Jan Study Process + Notes

Heres the Notes for my tree study:
flat Color using a color jitter brush (that’s why there’s multiple colors there)
simple shadows
tree texture using a rake brush
simple light
darker shadows using a rake brush
adding warmth to the tree (it’s more orange-brown in some parts )
Defining my shadows
finally, I used a hard light layer to bring more of a warm/orange hue to the light areas And that’s all for the study! It doesn’t all look lime my reference but I got what I came for and that is- being loose with painting
Using the rake brush was a bit new for this kind of study and it was very feeing to use, I’ll be using it a lot more for textures!
