Hey no i do not have this problem. I assume it is a matter of scene scale. If you are working with very small items, you need to go and reduce the scene scale in the settings accordingly. I would totally recommend to not work in real world scale when it comes to dynamics. Another thing is, if your start sim has intersections, you will probably carry some of those down the line.

Just reviewed this tutorial to see if yhou addressed the situatiuon i'm seeing now. All my simulations seem to have the same problem where items collide and then they stick to each other. No matter how much I adjust my Sim Settings and or how much i adjust the mesh accuracy. Have you had any issues with this? Running on the latest version of cinema now.

adam forbes

yeah it seems neither connectors work on rigid bodies at the moment...

adam forbes

No these are still tied to bullet for now. I expect next patch/version or never. U cant be sure with Maxon lol

Thanos Kagkalos

Do connectors work on new Rigid Bodies. I couldn't get it to work.

Hey yes logic is same. The difference is that flowers are not rigid bodies, but cloth. In cloth you need to add some force like eg. wind to trigger them and use a field to activate the wind. The most important thing to avoid crash is to test a single flower in a new scene. The flower should not interesect it self (very important also). If one flower works correct, then many flowers can work correct too without crashing. Yes ofc feel free to ask anything!

Hi) super nice tutorial. Thanks a lot! I wonder.. if the logic with spoons simulation would be the same if I try to blow out static flowers (instead of spoons) from the object in one direction? I will try this simulation and if it is possible can i ask a question here in comments after it doesn't work for me and crash :)

i think there is only 1, the latest beta for 2023. Its not very stable though

Thanos Kagkalos

Which version of octane are you using for Cinema 4D 2024?

David Hansel

thank you sir! One time that having no personal style helps me haha

Thanos Kagkalos

you are the only one i still subscribe to on patreon. always quality content and not rehashing the same old things over and over again like other 3d creators here. thank you!

Dan

I really do not know is very annoying... I emailed patreon they said they have no ETA on when to fix it

Thanos Kagkalos

Whats happening to the thumbnails these days?

Godfre Grant

ευχαριστώ for the reminder - tranquilo 👊🏽🤙🏽

I hope i ll find more time to play!

Thanos Kagkalos

its typical in every new release to have these issues on day 1. It is actually strongly advised to not use this version in production for 3-4 months or so, till some patches come out.

Thanos Kagkalos

ah too bad to hear! I guess its one of these "im unlucky" bug that is gonna fixed immediately. I have 3 versions on my pc 2023.1.3 / 2023.2.2 and 2024.0.0 and no issues or conflicts thankfully

Thanos Kagkalos

Im a bit surprised the hierarchy dialogue isnt "keyable" - I could see some interesting use cases where you'd want to switch from a full tower of clones to different levels throughout a simulation - but then again that's what connectors could also achieve too I guess, btw connectors with rigid bodies are pretty slick!

Usually, when they say performance has been addressed in this release, it's a major eye roll... but it looks like they really made a difference this time. Thanks for the breakdowns.

Ryan Uhrich

hehe I agree, very good release!

It's nice, everything so snappy! As someone mentioned below, Redshift hasn't crashed for me. There was a work around for having a rigid body object in the 2023 cloth sim, but it was a nightmare to pull of. Making cages with a soft body tag, using max poles to make it as stiff as possible. Then using a mesh deformer for the object to swap out for the cage. I was so happy when this new release came out as this was in a middle of a job and now used the new rigid bodies; a spline with rope tag (chain) picking up a pendant off the floor and having it swinging. Also the rigid bodies work like bullet, you can make a children and they follow the rigid bodied animation, unlike soft bodies. So I can add my diamonds to jewelry with my Cached/ Alembics etc, at the very end. I can't wait to test out more projects and not be fearful of these types of scenes. Feels like a new super power, very happy with this release 😂

James Shannon

Btw, my pc rig is 13900k + 4090 so its quite powerful. The reason you would not have the exact same performance would be this.
