thanks! yes i will do more of these. In fact I am preparing live workshops with this topic (early announcement here haha)

Thanos Kagkalos

Amazing! Love the art direction process and how you build your Creative Deck. Are you considering to do more tutorials in that direction? I would love to learn and hear from your experience. Thanks for sharing!

Javier Reyes Delpech

Will do it more often when i have briefs like this, thanks!

Thanos Kagkalos

really enjoyed the start where you discuss getting the brief and interpreting it and coming up with your actual ideas!

flexcop

Thanks a lot my friend! Yes case studies will be my jam going forward for a while :)

Thanos Kagkalos

Really enjoyed this a lot. I've been working on some variations of particles wrapping around a bust and a hand and the edge selection trick is a total game changer for me. Really great tip! Enjoyed the breakdown of your AD process too! It's not something that's talked about often enough and it's great to hear how you approach things in those early stages.

Fco. Garcia Nava

Thanks so much buddy! part2 is coming soon!

Thanos Kagkalos

Love you project breakdowns dude, Im a design geek so running through the pitch-deck is always fun. Can't wait for Part 2!

Ben H

They dont break the sim. They are too big on frame 1 and they intersect and xp delays/stucks when trying to solve intersections. Go to display tab and change the mode to spheres so u see their radius so u start understanding whats causing this. Other than that my advice is do not work in real world scale in general for multiple reasons, esp for sims. As in my experience particles below scale of 1 will cause issues if u complicate setups. Cheers!

Thanos Kagkalos

hmmm okay dropping particle scale to 0.01 cm rathen than 0.1cm fixes that issue. My hand scale is 100% real world size so not sure what happened there. Particle scale makes or breaks a sim in XP.

Luke Wills

Hey mate, yep something wrong on ur end. Cpu doesnt matter this isnt a calculation intensive task. Check the normals of ur object. In fact debugging 101: use a sphere and do same thing and u ll see how ur cpu behaves :)

Thanos Kagkalos

as soon as I add xpcollider tag to my hand the particles will linger around thhand and crawl up surface. takes awhile for them to blow away. Something tto do with direction o the selections...

Luke Wills

Already did and got a first great result. Wish I could post pictures here to show.. I'll learn a bit of rigging next. Thanks!

James Shannon

thanks! yea human parts are less tricky than in the past. Check out the 3dscanstore.com for the best quality out there!

Thanos Kagkalos

Love this breakdown and as always you dispel the fear of thinking something like this is not possible. I work with jewelry, but have been too scared to render something with a human models, like a ring on a finger for example, as I feared it would look too CG. Time to go and buy some body parts! 😄

James Shannon

Exactly! The only reason I am exploring style frames and art direction.

MUHAMMAD TABISH

cheers bud, i think its super important to start thinking other than technicals!

Thanos Kagkalos

Thanks for sharing your thought process, Cheers!

MUHAMMAD TABISH

thanks bud hahahaha pulling apart diapers made me laugh so much lol

Thanos Kagkalos

Just seeing this - cool stuff! I think I have that same hand from 3D scan store? Had to use it to rig and pull apart diapers this week actually - client loved it, they have nice scans - had to clone out quite a bit of freckles and a scar on the wrist though, I get realistic but we don’t need scars and such lol I digress.. I just ordered a 40 series m18 Alienware last week maybe I’ll make this my wallpaper when it arrives lol - nice introduction though on the deck and creative 🤘

Spenser Clark

Thank you. Yea if u see that u go to the extremes too often, take a step back and re evaluate ur approach. Like in all simulation systems, ur initial setup being proper can u get u to the finish line. Eg. if u use a forcefield with random vectors vs turbulence or use a follow path vs a forcefield with a spline. Which one would u prefer? I always do these small checks with different methods on same visual results and I choose the one that keeps performance higher, as this will be the one that will scale better. ps. yes i will do lighting/materials breakdown!

Thanos Kagkalos

I enjoyed this a lot. I always go to the extreme when working with particles and you have an innate ability to keep it simple and get amazing results. I always get too complicated, and my results are always weak. Will you be going over the texturing and lighting of the particles at all? Thanks again.

Shannon Wilkerson

haha thanks !!

Thanos Kagkalos

Man, the jokes are killin me :-D. Love it! . And thank you for another amazing 'behind the scenes'!

Chronox

thanks! No it was "Ex Machina"! i had to google it im getting older :)

Thanos Kagkalos

Great break down of the work flow but I especially enjoyed the insite into your creative process. By any chance was it Alita ,Battle Angel you were searching for?

Benjamin Parker

thank you! more to come!!

Thanos Kagkalos

Thank you for the excellent breakdown from the client pitch deck to your style frame thinking and the C4D breakdown to tackle the shots.

Hoi

cheers bud! yea i thought it would be useful for a lot of people to talk about what u get vs what u give out

Thanos Kagkalos

nice and quite simple technique. many times i have tried to control the flow of the particles around object. i think i have never used the xpdirection modifier...:D thanks for the tip. and the styleframes and talking about the project, and how to get started is also very interesting.
