Viewport & Selections (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Heya,

Second Houdini tutorial with tons of tries to get it right. This time we start proper with some viewport navigation. I know you all want the juicy stuff, but unfortunately H is not a software that you dive direct into particles. If you lack fundamentals, you don't understand a thing as you move forward. You will see, it will escalate quickly :)

Daily practice is the key here.
Have a great weekend!

ha yea the thing is... eg. rigid body to cloth is very complex haha thats why these tuts are so slow, trust me, it will escalate very quickly when i ll go into sims. Ofc you can follow along with vellum stuff immediately, search for vellum masterclasses in utube but u ll soon realise u cant do almost nothing but drop a cloth to floor or let it hang from somewhere :)

but yeah I like the series so far! I dont wanna omit C4D yet since some stuff is much faster and easier to do but i am starting to slowly warm up to houdini (sorry for the multiple posts btw)

Michael

maybe revisit some of the cloth stuff you did in the previous patreon tutorials and how they would work in houdini, e.g. the soft body setup you did in XP fluids.

Michael

very helpful introduction, thanks! It would be nice to get some basics into the usual C4D stuff, like "how to make an object a rigid body", and also blending between things, like from rigid body to cloth behavior. That collapsing pillar you posted on twitter looked really cool, but the node setup looked approachable. would be great to get some of these basic setups, and maybe how to combine them into a single setup. I guess like you did with the collapsing pillar.

Michael

Ur very welcome! Thats my goal here, to get people up to speed before sharing my explorations. Not sure how often I will update the H stuff cause my plate is so full atm. But i will definitely carry on if people find it helpful!

This is incredibly helpful. It's necessary for a beginner like me to take the time and learn these fundamentals even though I really want to just dive into the deep end and start creating crazy simulations. Thanks a ton for this, excited to see what's next.
