Xparticles/TFD connection (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hey guys,

This one concludes the principle techniques that I followed for the sphere explosion. I will probably do a small octane breakdown as well.

On another note:
I was thinking maybe the tutorials should be broken up into smaller sections and length? I feel there is too much information and maybe for some people is hard to follow.
So kindly let me know what u think in the comments :)
Cheers!

Hey bud u took me waaayy long back haha. Sure i ll try to use the updated explosia in newer stuff.

Do you think you'd revisit this with the new XP Smoke?

Lukasz Pason

Hey bud, The reason is that its way faster cause its gpu accelerated and has better control overall (or at least im used to it). Xp supposedly will go on gpu at some point but I know they didnt choose CUDA so it will never be as fast. Its a shame cause TFD hasnt been majorly updated for few years now, and is still the best solution for fluids in c4d imo.

So happy to finally have an opportunity to come check out your Patreon account guys! Just out of curiosity, why are you choosing to use TFD over Explosia?

Jordan Bergren

Thanks mate! Yes it does, actually xplosia is 100% compatible and integrated with XP. U just have different settings than TFD. My workflow is the following: i use TFD for smoke and Xplosia for advection. The reason is, that as things are at the moment TFD is alot faster than Xplosia, cause its GPU based. After the series of knitting, this kind of setups will follow :)

Love the tutorial. The longer the better =) Question: Does this effect at 18:44, also work with explosia? I have not much experience with explosia. Previously I played around with flowfield and splines but never used particles as the emitter.

Hey Hieran :) Thanks a lot for ur kind words and for the feedback. I totally agree with u. This is not always possible when particles and vfx. A lot going on behind the scenes and in order to be a good tutor, imo u have to be thorough on the principles. That being said, I totally agree, so we ll try make the content broken up and as "to the point" as possible :) Cheers!

Just signed up to this fantastic page - Xparticles TFD Fields all the types of things i have been wanting to learn. Firstly i want to say thank you for taking the time out to produce such great content. In response to your note, i agree. I ofren find myself clicking on a tutorial and the first thing i do is look at the duration. If its any longer than 20 mins i usally loose intrest - this is why i can not do Houdini tutorials as they last FOREVER! Small precise bitesize tutorials are best. Nothing wrong in splittling things up in parts. Also i have a day job so i find myself watching tutorials at night and trying to learn in the little spare time i have. Breaking things up would deffo be a help and allow me to do little bits here and there. Hope this helps! Cant wait for the stiching tuts LOOKS AMAZING!
