It was laid out pretty clearly in the Christmas book. They started coming through killing everyone and the architect used the bodies of the gods to force the cracks shut

Mike might be a Hail Merry attempt by one of the Others as a means of last resort. It reminds me of a TV show twenty years ago though the Architect if you can call him was actually evil. Who knows that perhaps that might be the case here with this Other trying to use Mike to tilt the game in their favor except that they didn’t account for the goodness of Mike’s character and how he has evolved his family into a formidable fighting unit.

2025-03-01 07:49:34 +0000 UTCIdk why but for the last like 2 books I keep getting the vibe that Mike is either the architect via some weird time warp shenanigans involving that “otherworldly thing” from D&H that sent lily and Dana back in time….OR he’s going to find out he’s a descendant of the architect when he completes the game and collects all the pieces.
