I always thought that part of the house was part of Merlin's tower just didn't know which part and for my next fantasy to be fulfilled I hope that Lovecrafts typewriter is somewhere in the vault.

Maybe as the soul pieces grow they open the connection wider and more stuff starts passing between them? That said even Ratu and Yuki, the foremost authorities on magic in the house were surprised by Mike's ability to gain other abilities, so it could also be fate or destiny or something messing with mike for their own amusement. Death is hanging around so I see no reason other ethereal concepts couldn't. Also not to be THAT guy, but her name was Velvet, not Violet

The way I read it was in making love caused an exchange of a piece of their souls, said piece allows a connection to form between them. That connection manifest physically as magic for Mike and Humanity for the 'Monster-girl'. It also manifests Mentally via the dreamscape and insights. So from Naia he gets her, seduction, charm, and bonding ability. I look at what abilities Mike has/uses as more like an amnesia patient than as a game player leveling up and gaining new skills. As an amnesia patient he is capable of using all the abilities of those he's souls swapped with. His limitations are self-induced due to a fear of losing himself like he almost did when Violet died, and due to his lack of understanding of how any given ability works. Like with Cecilia, the first thing he noticed was the soul swap but that was it. The first ability he used was the Banshee scream. It was until Krampus and the gang, with the help of Cecilia and Yuki that Mike took the time to study the soul pieces that he realized he could weave them and such. It wasn't like leveling up a new ability but more like unlocking a lost memory and learning how to apply it to the current situation. That's what make sense to me anyway.

2025-03-01 21:34:03 +0000 UTCSo the other day I was kicking back, not doing much and got to thinking about the way Mike's powers work. Don't ask why, I have no clue, my brain just went that direction. And something hit me. Mike can see people's souls. Which is a power only Cecelia has. Well okay Suly has it too, but THAT ain't happening. (distant disappointed dullahan noises. He is a Fae, they're known for curiosity and Mike does get some grand reviews) Mike can ALSO perform a banshee scream. Unless I'm misreading something here, that means that Mike has two of Cecelia's abilities, not just one. Two thoughts come to mind. One, just like the piece of Mike's soul seems to be growing in Cecelia maybe his collection of soul pieces are also growing, or two, there is no hard limit on what he gains, but some part of his subconscious is holding him back from accessing any past the first that he manifested for each woman in his life. His banshee screech was if I recall the first ability that didn't come from Naia giving him House access to show up, so that would explain why Cecelia is the first to manifest a second either way. I'm leaning towards the latter explanation since Mike has shown nervousness about the changes he's going through, puberty 2.0, and he has said on multiple occasions that he's intentionally NOT using his full power because it also scares him, especially on the subject of losing himself in the process. I'd bet a whole two bucks there's a suite of powers there, just waiting for the day he needs them. Gods help whoever pushes him over that edge. Except of course that several gods rather favor him, so they won't be inclined to help. They'll just god magic up some popcorn. Just Some thoughts I had and wondered what people might think. Sorry its long.
