Regolo Engine 1.3

Hooray, finally the 1.3 has seen the light. Let's take time to into it, and if you are in a hurry please take a look at the TL;DR version at the end of the wall of text :D .

About the new video

Lets start with a note on the new video. In short let's say goodbye to Youtube and welcome Mega. Since we entered the explicit territory I obviously cannot use anymore the popular platform. This also gave me more freedom, so instead of one general video I produced more focused ones.
This is not written in stone and depends on the time I can put in editing and stuff, but this month it seems I was lucky enough to produce the following videos:

As you can see there is a lot to be shown. Since audio has been introduced as an Enchanter only feature I separated it to be more visible respect the animations, at least for this release (but Illusionist now has hand gestures, check the section below for extra details).

Anyway if you have any suggestions on what is the best method to host a NSFW video and share it on Patreon your opinion is welcome ;) .

The audio

So let's speak about the main guest.
I teased it in the 1.2 post and I spoilered it later on. Yes, it's the audio! I worked on it on the (few) free spaces of august and came out with audio playable in the engine.

I think it adds a lot to the experience.

There are speeches and also sounds. Everything has been carefully crafted and tied to the right spot. Hope you appreciate the effort on this.

Speeches are always associated to a lip sync sequence, sounds are just sounds (like moaning) and don't have any mouth animation linked. So for example sometimes she moans with mouth closed, just to depict the worst scenario. Not sure this can be a good compromise or instead any sound (or some of them) should have some facial movement.  I want to hear your opinion on this since implementing it can be very time consuming, but at the same time i don't want to sacrifice the immersion. Thanks in advance.

I'm happy with the final result anyway, in particular with how the engine is able to synchronize the sound with the behaviours. I think that is the important part, so I'm ok so far.

I will try to add more speeches and sounds in every release if possible, and expand them as I do with the behaviours.

For now there are a lot of generic sentences added to give completeness to the overall audio experience and cover all the behaviours added so far. Sounds instead are triggered during the main intimate experiences (kissing and masturbating). Later will try to add sentences to them too.

Also, the speeches are not triggered every time, they have a percentage of activation, so they will not annoy you with the same sentence over and over again. Instead they are tied to the gestures, so you will probably listen to the same phrase in different contexts.
In the speeches video you can see as the speeches are perfectly intergrated with the facial expressions too. 

In the end this is my very first attempt at audio, hope you will enjoy it.

A caveat: lip sync is severely limited by the framerate, because of the fast sequence of lips movements. It needs a minimum framerate. If it cannot be guaranteed then the lips movement will go slower than the audio. This happens for example on my (old) laptop. There's nothing I can do to fix it, so if you notice a slow mouth movement, well you know what causes it :P .

The Patreon tiers modification

About the audio there's an important issue that I want to address here and now. Audio is a vital feature that could have been a separate patreon tier alone. I will not do it nonetheless, and instead I have included it in the Enchanter tier without any price modification. The main rationale behind it is that I have added the hands gestures to the Illusionist pack. 

Here's three reasons why:

PS: Enchanter has had from the beginning a basic breathing routine that I never advertised too much because its simplicity. Anyway for clarity I added it to the tier description.

The new animations

I told you at the end of August I was already working on some new behaviours that I envisioned for the 1.3, and here they are:

We have: 

A lot of realistic variability in this new behaviours. Just look at the video to have an idea. They kept me very busy because the masturbation needed to be very precise and that took the engine to its limits. 

Since the huge spectrum of possibilities given by the different combinations of distances, angles, inclinations, collisions, etc.. it could happen that sometime she could lose her grab. Wait for the next cycle and don't despair, she will eventually take again possess of your... magical staff.

So the standard run is still very good but you know, these are procedural constructs so some runs can be good and other less :P .

Hope you enjoy the average case anyway, since I'm really proud of it.

The new UI selector

Last point is the decision algorithm enhancement, that has lead basically to the possibility of choosing the girl behaviour. I improved the granularity and now you have a double layer of choice. The anima and the obsession. I really thought a lot about that and it turned out the best option to avoid becoming crazy with the decision tree, preserving the simulating nature of the engine while giving enough freedom to the user.

So you can now choose a behavioural obsession (like masturbating her for example) and that will bring the girl to perform such action in a compulsive way. That is, if you select an obsession the girl will be INCAPABLE of performing any other behavioural type.
Otherwise you can select an anima and it will perform a larger set of behavours (like caressing, kissing and masturbating him for the romantic one), following a narrative or anyway focusing on a progression.  As always the default is the standard anima.

The obsessions  introduced in the 1.3 are:

Please note that if you choose an obsession the last anima selection will be canceled. They are EXCLUSIVE to each other for now, so if you choose an obsession the selected anima will be overwritten by the obsession settings.

If you have chosen a different anima/obsession please check the info box in the lower left corner of the UI to have a confirmation of the current selection.

I also introduced a new Anima, the Lewd Anima. Obviously this will perform only obscene behaviours. I think this is a must and I was only waiting to add some sexual behaviours to introduce it.
Seductive anima at the contrary has been confirmed as a teasing one and will only come up to the the kiss, (almost) never crossing that line.

I think I will describe better the various anima and obsessions in a future post, just to make it clear what priorities and exclusions each of them has. 

For both anima and obsessions please remember to give the girl a minimum of time to realize and execute your will. I have lowered it further from 1.2 but the change is not instantaneous.

In conclusion I think I'm putting in place a system with good robustness and a lot of freedom in perspective, that I will be able to use to manage the (already) big set of behaviours that I will monthly add to the girl's backpack.

Give the anima system time to mature and show its strengths boys, I feel it's moving in the right direction ;)

How to use it

Regolo Engine 1.3 has been built and tested on VAM 1.17.7.1.
With the introduction of audio the Enchanter steps are slightly different:

If you have the Enchanter version the first thing to do is to put the RegoloEngineAudio folder under Saves/Assets. Please note that the Enchanter room will try to load all the audio files directly at the beginnning, so be sure to have placed in in the correct spot.

Also an important recommendation: safest way to start over the plugin execution is to clear it, reset girl's pose manually (from the person -> control panel) and then reload it. The plugin tries to automatically reset the pose at every start but it's not always perfect.

Bugs

A lot fixed and a lot to be fixed yet, but among the first set, one that bugged me a lot it's the wrong head rotation during the cawling. It's gone now, damn bastard. Among the latter ones still some jerky movements here and there, will try to get rid of them all soone than later.
