Yes, what you were thinking is right. What they call “the Incident” is referring to the events of the first Avengers film when the Chitauri invaded NYC and wreaked havoc. These Marvel Netflix shows along with AoS were always meant to be part of the MCU, just expanding the world a little but unfortunately the film studios never really were inclusive of the TV shows the way that TV was inclusive of the films events.
