NRB Plays The King's Dilemma | Episode 3 | PATREON EXCLUSIVE

Hail to the NeRBs!

The High Council of Ankist has been sequestered once again to debate the fate of the nation and only the fate of the nation. No ulterior motives. None whatsoever. Stop asking.

They have sworn on Mother's perfect head that this is purely for the benefit of the people and no one else.

The squabbling reaches new heights in this episode!

Just to reiterate a couple of things: SPOILER ALERT! This is a narrative focussed game so if you have any intention of playing your own campaign of King's Dilemma then think carefully before you watch! Also, The King's Dilemma poses some serious moral and ethical quandaries for the players to debate while roleplaying as their houses, neither the players nor the game itself endorse subject matters raised here.

Thank you as ever for your support! We hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did making it!

53:51 Way to ruin the kingdom, Dom!

Ian

Watching this as a player with the same House as Dom and playing it very differently sure is interesting.

We are still getting more yes?

Kyle Hollenbeck

Just a heads up about the secret agenda selections, two issues: 1) Yes, the lowest prestige picks first but the initial agenda discarded is at random. 2) The secret agenda selection proceeds with following the order of prestige from lowest to highest, not clockwise round the table starting from the lowest prestige. Been enjoying the series so far!

This series is Fantastic! Already worth the Patreon and half way through the Clock tower episodes! Great work!!

WE NEED MORE! This is an awesome series.

Because I’m insane, I’ve rewatched every episode and have tallied up all the prestige and crave points each player has achieved throughout the games. Ken has 10 prestige and 1 crave. Laurie has 9 prestige and 4 crave. Holly has 7 prestige and 2 crave. Dom has 6 prestige and 4 crave. Sullivan has 0 prestige and 6 crave. I also took the liberty of figuring out everyone’s secret objectives for their achievements! MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW DOM: * Unite with another kingdom. * Have Wealth be the highest resource at the end of the game 3 times. * Have the Stability marker in the top half at the end of the game 4 times. * Have Welfare be the highest resource at the end of the game 3 times. SULLIVAN: * Subdue the outcasts. * Have Welfare be the lowest resource at the end of the game 3 times. * Have Wealth be the lowest resource at the end of the game 3 times. * Have Knowledge be the lowest resource at the end of the game 3 times. LAURIE: * Destroy heretical ancient knowledge. * Have the most power at the end of the game 4 times. * Have Knowledge be the lowest resource at the end of the game 3 times. * Have Morale be the highest resource at the end of the game 3 times. KEN: * Find a new perspective on reality. * Have Morale be the lowest resource at the end of the game 3 times. * Have Knowledge be the highest resource at the end of the game 3 times. * Score a total of 2 or more points through Open Agendas 3 times. HOLLY: * Curse the royal family. * Have Stability be in the bottom half of the tracker at the end of the game 4 times. * Have Influence be the lowest resource at the end of the game 3 times. * Have Wealth be the lowest resource at the end of the game 3 times.

House Rules going from Bouncey Castle to House Baratheon in only two episodes

Came here to point this out as well

Love the King's dilemma. The intro always brings tears, although that may just be due to my recently ruptured eardrums.

Miika Väänänen

Kingdom of Ankist? Barbarian Satrapy of Ankist is more likely.

William Cusick

The secret agendas get passed out in order of lowest prestige to highest not clockwise. Its on page 8 of the rulebook.

MisterM

This campaign went from Season 1 to Season 5 of Game of Thrones in 3 games. Wait until you rumors of dragons! Wink wink.

Luigi Scazzari

It did go up last month

Where's episode 2?

acapkara

Damn. Gotta catch up on episode 2!

Aberdine Bumbledorf

Dig this a lot. I'll say again, I wish it was once/fortnight or once/week rather than once a month. But still, thanks for making this. It's my kind of content.

Lega Thus

Noticed that too!

Liam Hynes

Sneaky Dom - taking the pass coin, then taking it again at the end of the round!

Lucus Keppel

I'm really loving this series. The King's Dilemma seems like a great game, five players is a great count for the format and I adore all the players involved. Especially #1 player Molly Hushgrave.

Paul Thomson

Oh man I can’t wait to see what happens next episode 😩😩

Dylan McCormick

My new favorite NRB series! Would love an update on everyone’s prestige and crave points at the start of each episode though.

SPOILER ALERT: Great playthrough, though inevitably I anticipated an abdication was going to happen. Laurie seems to be playing this well, keeping himself in the middle of everything. I am curious to see what you do concerning Enkhal, as I have an idea of what will most likely happen with Ken and Holly's passivity. That last card kind of illustrated a point, as it took out the indicators of the game and forced you to consider exactly what you would do in that situation. For Dom, I will say I appreciate he considered it on the notion of trying to appease the army. Sullivan also tried to look at it from that perspective, in the since of propping up a puppet claimant to the throne. So congrats on trying to figure it out. I can also see Sullivan's house arc, as I do not think he has gotten a single Prestige point across these playthroughs.

DoubleBrain22

1) Sully is quite right about the Scots executing more witches than the English (I’m Scottish, don’t hate me). 2) Fun fact: The Welsh, at least in the early modern period, executed a grand total of three. 3) The idea that you had to drown to prove your innocence in the swimming test is a myth. It was pretty brutal, but they didn’t let the accused drown.

Wooo! Been waiting for this. What a lovely way to wrap a day off
