Ruby murmurs that observation around the straw she's lightly biting. Her glass of Mrs. Dorran's homemade lemonade has been entirely drained, only leaving behind tartly sweet droplets in the plastic tube. You take pity on her, offering her the remainder of what's in the chilled pitcher you brought back from the B&B. Her eyes widen following your gesture before she's smiling gratefully at you, practically cradling the cup. This is why you took a much needed break.
"As I was saying, you must truly adore Silas and his friendship," she starts again after a refreshing swig of lemonade. "Because I can quite literally feel my face melting off."
"How much sunscreen did you apply?" you ask.

(Also, so much yes to your parenthesis about the /urgency/ increasing along with the concern and fervency. I'm pleased that this progression of both touches and feelings came through. 😊💚) R could use some lovingly bullying; the MC is likely the best person to do it for them. The two of them can know (or learn with time) when to push to help and when it's time to pull back to support. Lol, yes, I imagine the shirt being that expensive; R can be particular. The back and forth banter, the soft (and then urgent touches) (and kisses) and admiring each other. Jam lovingly bullying Ruby into taking care of herself is going to be a theme in their relationship, I think. Oops that probably $300 cotton shirt. At least it was already ruined by paint. Thank you for this scene.
