A Tooltip Tip

No matter which size UI you're using, almost all of the odd bits and pieces like conversation bubbles, examine windows and signage, are scaled appropriately. But one important part of the UI that you can resize without help from DarqUI is complex tooltips. Those are the ones for spells, recipes, etc., that contain a colorful variety of text labels and icons -- not your typical simple text tooltip that only contains one label.

If you've never changed this setting, then it's most likely set to the default of auto-sizing based upon your screen resolution. And that's fine for a lot of players. Higher resolution produces larger complex tooltips. It makes perfect sense. (Wouldn't it be nice if the entire UI worked like that!)

Even so, you should be aware that you can resize up or down the contents of your tooltips independent of which UI size you are using. It's done from this place in Options:

If you uncheck the Autoscale checkbox you can use the slidebar to choose a specific text size for spell/item/recipe tooltips. Here's an example of how that looks. The tooltip on the left was auto-sized for 1900x1200, while the right side is at the maximum font size on the slidebar. Much easier to read even though this UI is using Normal size for everything else:

It works the same way if you've selected the Large or X-Large UI, with one wrinkle: In the image above, you'll notice icons remain at Normal size. They dont change, because icon size is burned into the tooltip definition. On the other hand, if you've downloaded one of the larger sizes you'll get tooltip icons that match a bit better with the rest of your UI. Here's the XL Examine window and tooltip on the right:

And that's about the size of it!
