Off to a Big Start

One of ProfitUI's signature components is the Start Button mod which offers nine macro-like icons that perform one-click operations such as hiding pets, displaying the lockout timer window, and so on. By default the icons are displayed in a 3x3 layout, although the window can be resized to arrange them vertically or horizontally.

ProfitUI CE player Avenn suggested in Discord recently that the icons seem a bit small, and no doubt other players with higher-resolution monitors might agree.

A new resizable variant of the Start Button mod is available on the ProfitUI CE updater for you to try out. A few adjustments have been made that I think you'll like:

• The window starts out with icons sized at 42 pixels, which is roughly double the size of the default (see image below).
• You can change the icon size to anything that suits your taste by editing the BoxSize value. Use your favorite text editor or right-click the Start Button line in the updater and View in Notepad to edit the file.
• Icons have been added to the Sound and Video buttons, which will resize better than the S and V text from the default window.
• Since the in-game browser has been removed, the Browser button now opens your Windows browser to eq2interface.com. You can change this "home page" by editing the file, but be aware that the /browserexternal command only processes URLs that begin with either www or http (not https). Also note that the URL will break if it contains any spaces.

If you make edits to the file (eq2ui_mainhud_startbutton.xml) remember to go back and "Skip" the Start Button on the updater, to prevent clobbering the customized file when you get updates.

I hope you enjoy using the resizable Start button variant. It's a nice improvement if you have a higher-resolution system, without disrupting the UI for players who are not interested in the mod. Let me know what you think!
