2 - Two - 2wo
Added 2023-11-13 14:00:07 +0000 UTCIn a couple of days I'll be doing the hot-plate scramble of finally moving into the new place. I've planned that I'll be out of contact for at least a couple days, even if the internet hookup is supposed to take place on that day. Always plan that it might take a couple days.
I'm looking forward to not living like a squatter. My current place is so bereft of items that voices echo. Smokey, one of my cats, actually did his nightly yowling then ran in to the bedroom with this 'confused' mew on the first night that I had the upstairs level cleared. He wasn't used to hearing his own screaming back at him.
As I've stated many times, I'm looking forward to a lot of things. I'd like to have my art-station back in working order. I was hoping to have a bit more inked but it wasn't in the cards. Every day of the last week has been spent dealing with the usual suspects.
I have at least been writing. Specifically drafting more of the storyline for the comic out. If I can't actively work on drawing it, I _can_ write on the laptop easy enough, and it's been a nice escape considering much of my downtime is now contained in boxes ready for transport.
I'm nowhere near a professional at scripting a comic. I've never been under that impression. This is more scripting on a broad sense rather than panel by panel. I work better that way I find when I can't do page thumbnails to figure it all out. I've missed visiting the folks in these pages too. Many of them have been a bit cut off from me in the last while, so their gathering in my little brain-space is pleasant. I adore them with all of my heart.
Getting over the worry that this will end up as yet another generic fantasy comic starring critters as characters was an obstacle. I started down the road of 'comparisons' again which never leads to good results unless you are doing viral studies or shopping for ugly Christmas sweaters. There was a time that I'd simply stop entirely because I'd have believed the things I'm creating aren't worthy, or of any interest.
The good side is seeing myself use tools I was given to climb out of that pit, and go back to doing this as a passion project. No, it may not be the next rich fantasy universe that is detailed out in Tolkienian obsessiveness, but it is a place that I remember, if not actively ever 'visit' anymore. It still has stories committed to memory, and they will get told.
I just need to be in a place where you don't have to wear light jackets all the time, and have comforts like food that isn't out of a can (Seriously, I can't wait to make some spiced chicken with mashed potatoes, peas, and gravy again).
The last couple of days here will be spent winterizing the place. Which means draining all the water pipes, propylene the traps, and insulating the line that the city's water enters the house. While it's set to be generally mild up until date of possession, I'm not taking any chances since I can't leave a bunch of heaters running in this place for 9 days.
This will be my last post from this old house. The next will be from the new space. It's wild to think of how quick everything seemed to go this year. My hope is the next post will come along with an explosion of art that I've had stacked up in my tiny walnut floating in head-mayo. The absolute first things I'll be doing is getting commission work done, then just doling out all sorts of autumn imagery I have sitting on the backburner. It may be Winter when I get there, but I'm not letting go of autumn just yet.
...Though my Christmas tree will probably be up soon after >.>
Until the new digs.

I guess Karma has decided you've been beaten down enough the past few years. She's cutting you some slack, it's more fun than smacking you around!
