Surprise Frand (Patron Illustration)

I was incredibly late finishing this illustration for July's list-patron due to the wild-hospital-ride (tm) at the end of that month and beginning of August.  However they were supremely understanding, and very gracious in giving me the time to finish this image properly.

I was given a bit of an open canvas to work with for this character, and I loved the suggestion of her perhaps being as student at one of the academies in the world.  Though what academy wouldn't have at least one tiny book-dragon familiar looking to chat with people about their current favourite book.  Or even just asking for snacks (Probably both).

The character was wonderfully expressive.  I admit I really loved the eyes and curls in the reference material I was given.  My one regret was that I didn't get to go through all of the book-spines and do individual titles, but that probably would have added another week's wait.

And as I type this, I have a cat dozing on my feet.  I guess the image is granted the meow-seal of approval.

The next person on the list will likely be sent notice around mid-month.  I have a couple images to ink (that will have falling leefs, of course) and about a dozen ideas I'd like to draw (about falling leefs of course).  Cinders has a lot of tiny spirits to check up on, and ensure are well fed for the coming winter, and a lot of noses to pet of various reixa and non-reixa.  I'm saving a few of the spooky-type pictures for later this month and early next month.

Felines in academies though.  One can't get more September than that :)

Every guidebook should come with a bookguide dragon.

Perfesser Bear

This is really beautiful :) Well done!

Cinders is already making big eyes at me, and asking "They come in BOOK SIZE? I need a dozen." And CD dragons are great.. As long as they wear headphones. 3am isn't the time to suddenly start hearing CCR blaring :D

That's so cute! Of course now everyone will want a book-dragon of their own (although mine have also grown fond of my cd collection as well). ;-)
