In the rare moments I've had to sit and do artwork I've been indulging in drawing out my characters in a friend's D&D campaign that's been running for a few months now. Normally I tend to hold off on drawing characters until they're in a more 'survivable' spot in games, but in this case I made an exception solely due to wanting to show a bit of the history of the Order of the Pale Star on Felwroth.
I went a bit more illustrative with this one. I'm getting back in the practice of doing comic-book inking and keeping linework since I'm at the inking stages for the next couple pages of Tides and realized I'd let my inks lapse pretty badly. This is also the first time I've been able to use the chainmail brush I created a while back in colour and I was pleased with the result.
One thing I had forgotten to note in the image is that he wears 'demonscarred' plate. A run in with what I can only describe as a god-like demonic entity left the mark of three on his breastplate. A mark that cannot be repaired or removed.
So far Ser Araden hasn't been annihilated by anything, fingers crossed, and its one of the rare human characters I've played, partially due to the release of Dark Souls 3 that got me obsessed with knights and armor again.
Down the line I might give the same treatment to another couple characters I had in mind.
As mentioned, I'm currently working on getting comic pages past the rough stages, and have a painting in mind. I'm doing my best to get one (or both) of these done before the end of the month. Gardening season brought a *lot* of work to do over the past weeks, which naturally took away from time to sit and do art again. It felt good to take up the tablet and just scribble again. Then again, the alternative was moving bricks and lifting boulders ;)
