Berrand is one of those characters I don't draw much. I'm still not entirely sure why, since he's Cinders' husband you would think he'd be in more of the sketches I do of her.
He's not always an easy character for me to portray, which probably explains the lack of art I've done of him. He carries around a lot of scars as most former warriors do, both physical and mental, though he's found peace in his later life, a sort of serenity he can live with amidst the gardens tended by his wife. I wanted to try and capture a weary if peaceful look to him. And also just do a simple picture with him that wasn't covered in armor, straps, and weaponry.
I might keep the tattoo's/dyes since he's picked up a few over his journeys. The colour version of this should be interesting since I've forgotten some of the details, and haven't done a full colour image in months, but I miss doing these sorts of paintings.
I'll just attach the sketch below, since it's in a fairly rough state still and isn't worth porting to a server just yet.
Lastly, I'll be sending out the note to this month's patron who's on the sketch-list, and will be doing my best to catch up with the last of the e-mails I have waiting. Busy times ahead.
