Weekly Update - number 7 (late!)
Added 2015-06-21 19:44:55 +0000 UTCHey all,
This week's update is late (but still technically within the same week!). It's been a bit of a front-loaded week that started with my laptop going completely mental on me, requiring a re-install of the OS and days of re-installing software. It looks like everything is back in working order, but I'll keep my fingers crossed since the OS itself seems fairly wobbly as a whole.
Video stuff
That said, I've been researching decent recording software in hopes to get some quick tutorials or even just showing a bit of the processes I use to do artwork, mapping, and general gushing about one of the programs that I use to do work. While there are some good options out there for free or cheap recording software, editing software is a swirling nightmare of bank-account draining madness. But the search continues!
Old arts?
I'm curious if my putting up some higher resolution and lower resolution full sized images of my older artwork up on here would be something you all would want. I realized that I have a pretty extensive catalogue of artwork posted to sites all over the place, but it's all really heavily watermarked and usually reduced in size about 80%. I don't want to flood the place with work that people have seen already, however.
Comic stuff
Page three is sketched in and I've started doing 'inks' for the first page. It's a learning experience to be sure, as the program I'm using (Manga Studio) is absurdly robust when it comes to doing inks. I've had to learn features in Japanese (the program originates from there) and so far I'm really impressed, just lagged behind in production since I'm trying and re-trying things that I'm learning. Since I want the comic to have a uniform style and feel I don't want to start out with one way of doing things only to switch everything up the very next page. But it's a blast to learn. By next month it should be a regular feature.
Commissions?
Still on hold, as I've eluded to. The RPG project I'm working on is progressing! It just eats up a very large amount of time. I might ask if I can show a few of the works here exclusively, thought hey won't be high resolution since I don't have reproduction rights on those images.
I'm still looking at a fall start to doing commissions again. Luckily the work I'm doing on the RPG isn't interfering with the free sketch I do monthly for folks here though.
That's the news from this week. I have a couple other things I'll be asking about/featuring next week though. Here's hoping there aren't any more sudden hardware disasters!

Unfortunately most of the pre-2000 artwork is gone. Right now only the digital low-res scans are all that remains of much of it. Some were also commissions that I don't have reproduction rights to and the originals reside with their owners. That said, I'll see what I still have hanging around that is in a postable format :)
