Well, it's happened again. We've gotten to the end of the month and still no freaking game to share. I hate to think exactly what I said in my last month's update - I can't even quite bring myself to go back and read it - but I distinctly remember promising to have Version 4.2 ready and with you by the end of this month.
Well, here's the status on that. I'm still like two weeks away. As always, I'm working on this every damn chance I get and I've done SO MUCH more since my last post, but it's still a ways off, and I've obviously had to prioritize my paying non-game work (as much as I'd love to just be working on this full time!) ...
So at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'll totally understand if you wanna cancel/resubscribe so you don't get billed tomorrow!
That said, I'm also really pleased with what I have got done and I'm excited to share it all. In fact, I've made a little video that shows off a few of the new features and systems and whatnot, which I've linked above ...
But to explain what it's showing you:
I've given the menu and UI something of an overhaul.
You might notice a mysterious PHONE icon. Yeah, that's gonna be useful real soon.
I've finished off the dynamic dream system, so depending on which places you visit, which characters you've met and what you've done in the game, the dreams will be different and somewhat randomized.
I'd always planned for the Cafeteria to be a place where you can meet other NPCs and have conversations - sometimes random, sometimes related to what quests you're doing - and that's all up and running now! (One criticism the game's gotten is how "empty" it feels currently, which is kind of frustrating, because in my head I know that every location in the game is going to have some use or purpose, I just can't magically implement all the things I have planned at once! But at least now the Cafeteria is a little busier ...)
I've added in an extra level of player stats - don't panic. It's not too complicated. But basically by doing certain things you accrue various "points" - study points, corruption points, femininity points, drunkenness points - all viewable whenever you click on your player name. And those points can unlock extra things. Like, once you have enough corruption points, you might feel like entering the Adult Video Cabin or doing other sketchy things you wouldn't dare do earlier in the game!
I've added a working bar to the nightclub so you can get drunk - again this will unlock certain possible extra options, but for now all it does is give you a hangover the next day.
I've finally given you at least one good reason for sneaking into Amy's room. And if you see her in the Cafeteria, then you know she can't be in her room, right? ;-)
When you try on feminine clothes it adds to your arousal, but this diminishes the more experienced/feminine you get.
I've added an end of semester EXAM - depending on how good a student you are over the term, the correct answers will light up (or not). And there'll be an incentive for passing too - in the form of a monetary reward from your folks for good grades. Although if you totally fail, maybe you can convince Professor Anderson to change your grade, if you catch my drift ;-)
I've added in a working goddamn video cabin in the Adult Book Store - complete with three channels of retro movies to watch and a timer that runs out. You'll see that the current descriptions for the, uh, "members" are currently boilerplate, but it should also give you some hint as to what's happening behind the scenes; meaning, you'll get totally different text depending on how experienced you are!
And speaking of the ABS video booth stuff - it's not exactly safe for work so maybe don't watch the above (unlisted/private) YT video in public, okay?? And if the video gets pulled or flagged or something, I'll try and reupload it somewhere else, but I'm hoping it'll fly under the radar ...
So yeah, hopefully you can see that - just like last month - I'm still hard at work. And trust me, I want this game in a fun, playable state more than anyone! It's just going to take me a couple more weeks or so to get it in the totally working/not-janky state I want it before I'm ready to share it with you all, and finish up all the last bits - like adding in the various hookup options available (the stuff I shared with you last month) to the actual game itself ... I hope you can understand.
