Hello guys,
And wow, once again, thank you for all your great feedback!! It is super inspiring.
However we now have a fun dilemma to work with, as with all the propositions you’ve made, we would have more than enough to cover a full year of releases :D ;)
But don’t worry, you’ll get tons of cool stuff and looking at what we’re already working on, I would not be surprised that you’ll ask for a second round of Feys in the future.
So what did you come up with?
There are really two main themes coming out of your answers:
As you can imagine that is A LOT of stuff.
So let’s dive into your feedback
Estrus - Absolutely in LOVE with the concept of the Djinn as a display for the other minis!! I'm not a gamer but a painter/hobbyist. If you could do something similar for every release ... OHMYGOD! =]
Yes that would be awesome. We can’t promise we will exactly stick to that formula but we LOVE big centrepieces, so we’ll see what we can make with that idea that will also fit all your other demands for this release. The main problem for this Fairy release is that there might be not one but several big characters… Anyway, you’ll get some pretty cool boss type characters for sure ;)
One of the main demands in your feedback is about Centaurs. Everybody seems to love them!
Piotr Sajewicz - No one is making good centaurs.
Curtis Craddock - Some good centaurs would be nice. Almost every centaur I've ever seen looks like it was designed by someone who had never seen a horse.
Chad Challman - Yes please centaurs!
JXG - Stag centaurs would be really cool, too!
Wood elves are also among the big requests, but you gotta realize that this would make a single release in itself if we were to give them all the attention they deserve. So what we’re going to do here is not focus on Wood Elves per se, but create as many characters as possible that could fit into a Wood Elf army or setting. Also, some of you asked about wardancers, so, well...
Ashley Beech - wood elf war dancers,
Broc Reed - I want some barbaric looking wood elves with antlers on crowns, hoods, and helmets. No fancy pants elves here, these suckers should look like they want to eat you.
Yarik Hansraj - Elven warsingers/wardancers please!
Niels Junius - Wardancers!!! I really hope there will be wardancers =O
Michael Wernert - How about some Lunar Wood elves (very tribal and savage defenders of the forest)
Josh Scammahorn - Very exciting! My wishlist would include maybe something wardancer-like (with two-handed glaives would be amazing)
Like I said above, the Fey Courts is something that you seem to really, really want.
Nicole Haskell - The fey court with King Oberon and Queens Titania and Mab would be amazing! Cause then the Seelie and Unseelie courts ruled by different queens with distinct and different styles would be really beautiful and their court of pixies satyrs dryads and animals that aligned with those styles. Oberon as an over-arcing king of all fey.
Campaignolle - Satyr is a good idea too : sexiness but with a male for once ! :)
Quentin Quasevi - Une dryade montée sur un gros renard, à l'affut.
Chance Meeks - I would also love to see Seelie vs Unseelie/Summer vs Winter courts with King Oberron, Queen Titania and Queen Mab.
Bill Stanley - Something elegant and beautiful befitting of the Fey Court, Oberon and Titania would be amazing. Also a few other artists have been trying their hands at Moth/Humanoid type creatures and they have been amazing. Would love to see your take on it.
Jared Aldridge - A battle between between winter and summer Fey led by Queen Mab and Queen Titania.
Marc Militello - I need a summer and winter fairy queen. need to be scalable to around 50mm but basically Titania and Mab. Must haves in the Fey. After them it's all glimmer. The Winter/Summer Knight, the Winter/Summer Lady, Old Mother Winter/Summer, The Erlking and his wild hunt,
Lana Tessler - high fae nobles - elegant and possibly deadly
James Jefferson - Since your going with the Fey realm you need unseelie and seelie courts repersented.
Joy Doner - Seelie vs. Unseelie Courts.
Eric Chambers - Midsummers nights dream +1, the Court Of Oberon and Titania.
Creating all the characters of the Summer Court and then all the ones of the Winter Court is just impossible in a single release: it would be at least something like 30 - 40 miniatures. But of course these characters are too tempting to pass, so we think we've found a good balance between all the options you are dreaming of and what is realistically doable. You’re about to get some very, very cool stuff :)
Feys are not only Pixies and cute little fairies but also dark creatures.
Stephen Pfann - Of course, if drawing on Celtic, Gaelic and midsummer night’s imagery, it’s important to remember that there are two factions within the the fey, those aligned with the wild and bestial horned god Cernunnos, and those aligned with fairy queen/earth mother Danu.
DarthUrsus - If you are going for something darker, wicker creatures could be interesting. Amalgamations of wood, bone, and dark magic in humanoid and bestial forms:
Dooble Mooble - I like the idea of something like a dark spirit bound in to a tree, looking kind of like The Witcher's take on a Leshen.
Voleki - Wendigo.
And yes, of course we like that too ;) So we’ll have some dark creatures for the Unseelie Court.
And you cannot think about the Dark Fey without referring to the Wild Hunt. Oh, but wait, wouldn’t that be also another full release ? :D :D :D
Marc Militello - The Erlking and his wild hunt,
Lana Tessler - I literally started screaming. Lord of the Hunt
So yes, we’ll do a little bit of that too, because that’s just too cool!!
And in the dark forest, there are creepy witches and hags…
Local .Guide - hags and witches
wordflyer - If you've got some great hags in mind, that'd be great.
Leigh - I can't help but think about the things that live in the woods in Eastern European legends. Baba Yaga comes to mind, as well as Rusalka, Vodník, and so many more creepy jerks!
Can we ALSO do that…? Frankly, I’m not sure. I don’t want to say no to this, but as you can see… this is starting to be a super massive release!
But all these ideas got us super pumped up and we already have come up with a lot of super cool stuff that we can’t wait to show you.
The cool thing is that, before asking you to choose this month’s theme, this was already one of the themes we had in mind, so this couldn’t have been more perfect.
Now, we sure hope that you’ll want an Episode 2 of the Magical Forest, because there are so many ideas that we cannot put in that release that it would be a shame not to get back to it at one point.
This July release is going to be so cool guys :)
Also, like I told you before, we’ve not forgotten your other proposal, like cyberpunk, steampunk, knights, horror circus, and all the guilds (wizards, druids…). We’ll get back to you on that soon.
But now… I have to leave you and go sculpting like crazy because I know a large bunch of fairies who are waiting for me and the team to bring them to life :)
