PRODUCTION JOURNALS - "Vi's Lunch Break" (SHELVED)

WHAT UP, SUCKAS!

The poll I made had Vi as the second most requested behind Pikmin Bits, and while I'm still working on Pikmin Bits, I lined out the next Vi Bit quickly in a storyboard.

And here's the animation for this version.

I was on the way to finishing, but I felt it was going too fast, and skipping a few steps (like how immediately she overtook the van.) I added more shots to pace that out. Still gotta animate her choppin' the dude offscreen, though.

And then I animated her driving the van, instead of beckoning from the back.

This was the first draft of what I was thinking, and it was gonna be this simple. However, as I was working on it, I wanted to do a little more, since this is my own concept. There's already knowledge on Pikmin, and on Nintendo things, but I wanted to get people more acquainted with her line of work and co-workers.

So I added more of a background through a starting segment of the underworld. I had cow skulls peeking in as a nod to the cows in Jabu Jabu's Belly in Ocarina of Time Master Quest. I had a Demogorgon be the bartender, since depictions shown it with two heads and many tentacles. Perfect for cleaning cups. For the Skelevision next to him, I considered adding footage of the Elliot Roger vlogs or the Colombine tapes in there, but there wasn't too much of a joke to that outside of "lol, ain't that just the worst?" So I'll add footage of something else.

Since it was about lunchtime, I figured everyone else would be in a bar room, the imps, and even their boss, the Reaper himself!

Still deciding on what the ringtone would be. A friend suggested it should be a mix-up of a stock scream and the Pikmin whistle, but backed out of that. It's a maybe.

These are the Murder Boards, a murder leaderboard that catalogues the souls taken, and by who. Reaper got a notification that Vi stepped up by... one.

They aren't imp-ressed, but then they hear something on the Skelevision...

This is "Dr." Vein and an average imp. The imps are sturdy and rowdy, so a small brainy boy would obviously be their punching bag. I'll be touching on Dr. Vein later. They also hear that thing on the Skelevision...

You'll get to see what it is very soon... Cuz I still gotta draw it. I've been antsy with how long this has been taking in comparison to other projects. I still have the big Meat Van driving sequence to finish up, which has a lot to it. I put a pin on this project, and started up some shorter animations, like a Kirby one, a Robotnik one and a Pikmin Bit. I'll probably be picking this back up late this month after some Pikmin Bits-- they were the most requested and I still wanna do 'um.

Finishing up two Pikmin Bits, I returned to this because I had an idea for how the van scene could play out.

I quickly doodled the design of this Karen type screaming at an aged worker. Mainly, I wanted her umbrella to get jammed in the front of the van like a spear.

I made her a little more upper class as a crack at people who always want a discount despite being well-off enough to pay.

The BG is a little cleaner here, since I really liked how the "Wardrobe Malfunction" Short looked. so I brought some of it here. I'm probably gonna retouch all the other BGs in the other shots to look more like this. That's for later, since I still have the van driving across to animate.

Oh, and the weenie is Mr. Blik.

Anybody here who's had to deal with a Karen lately, take a look at this! Doesn't that just butter your biscuit? Or relishes your weenie, I guess.

 Another shot I've been doing involves Vi driving the van closer to the camera, until she's real close. She's got a cool hood ornament with wacky eyeballs like in those glasses we'd wear as kids.

 Turns out, dude was really made outta CHEESE, and a splash got on Vi's cheek

   CHEESE.

This is one of my more complex shots, so I'll be on this for a bit.

 Obviously not finished, and I still gotta add the cheese, but oh gosh I'm goin' crazy. Gotta have a shot of her going through buildings, and crashing out with some wacky stuff on the hood of the van. Maybe some people that were doin' horrid things in private.
