After season 4 is finished**

Matt Carson

Will you guys be jumping straight into Castlevania: Nocturne or taking a break before watching it??

Matt Carson

I remember when you guys started watching Agents of SHIELD and you caught up just in time to watch the seventh and final season with the rest of the world. Shortly after that, the first two seasons of this show dropped on Netflix.

Aldo Gonzales

I hope they don't read this but its not much of a spoiler, they did open a bonsai store, it failed so they went with car a dealership

Macs

Banzai and Bonsai are different words btw

Kris Valle

There's no reason not to.

Johnny Blue

Hell yeah, Cobra Kai is my favorite anime

sammy the B

Artists still shop for things; which makes a bonsai tree shop not in sell out territory. People going to a place of business that sells that tree are looking specifically for that tree for various reasons and there's meaning behind the consumer purchase. It's akin to an artist or a botanist going to a place of business to buy things that support their art; like buying paint, canvass, or seeds. With that purchase, they hope to create meaningful art. A bonsai tree shop selling their wares is not the same as a car dealership advertising bonsai trees as a gimmick to sell cars. While both businesses need to have profit to sustain itself, one business is in line with the spirit of the original intent of the master while the other business is using a symbolic thing as making money being the primary concern. It's not unreasonable for a first time viewer, who watched the original films, to think there's some sell out stuff going on with Daniel.

COBRA KAI

Hey Mr. Bad Take on Everything. Lets say you aren't, lets say you've decided to watch the show for the first time, along with the couch. So you went ahead and watched episode one. And now you are going to watch the reaction. Better yet, so you have no foot to stand on, you binge all of season 1. Now you are going to react along with the gang. Welp, you just got spoiled for 5 seasons worth of content all in one banner. Now take a step back, breathe, think, remember all the things you were taught by your parents and in school about discourse, and if you feel you have an educated response, feel free.

COBRA KAIIII

COBRA KAI NEVER DIES

Except they were planning on opening a bonsai tree shop in the third film. And it doesn’t become secondary to profit when daniel gave one for free to johnny when he didn’t charge him for anything. That shows that the bonsai and karate thing is more of an quirky add-on rather than an actual core component of the marketing strategy. There’s a reason it’s not a common reading/interpretation and multiple comments are calling it out and perplexed by it. Other reactors never got that reading from it. It just reeks of an overly PC response. And again, the layer of irony of that type of interpretation coming from reactors just adds to the perplexity.

Veya

#SundayRundown Really good theories with the Re us and the ring. But instead of WHO the ring belonged to, remember the purpose of them. Since Saint Germaine was talking with Hector, he could've learned the method to make new rings.

Mikestrike

Jason Newsted, former bass guitarist of "Metallica", said this about selling out: “Yes, we sell out – every seat in the house, every time we play, anywhere we play.”

Chaos T

I will say I don’t know where the heritage and all that come into play but it didn’t come from me. But I will say giving away bonsai don’t make him a sell out or anything negative should come from that because as we all learned from the movies, they hold a special place in danny heart and him giving them away could also be seen as a kind and goodwill gesture. If where all being honest all of a sudden since Johnny is the main protagonist, that channel just wants to hop on anything he says and does and hate on the opposition.

Sonicluis

You're not supposed to be watching it for the first time here dumbass

J. J.

It's the same shit you guys are god damn stupid

J. J.

In the previous films, it was established the bonsai tree had meaning. Now, Daniel is giving them away for free as a marketing ploy to sell cars. The meaningful lessons of the bonsai became secondary to profit. I don't believe he's a sell out but I'm not going to fault anyone for immediately coming to that conclusion in the first episode because the red flags are there.

Chaos T

With that banner on the video sucks for anyone who hasn't watched the show and wants to watch with you for the first time. Mega ultra spoilers.

Erich Bomke

wtf JJ

Erich Bomke

That doesn’t remotely make him a sell out. And he’s selling cars in general and not just foreign cars and the cars are mostly german not japanese so that makes even less sense. And also a react channel is…less than honest, so there’s still layers of irony in saying what daniel doing is selling out (which he isn’t) even without the Indian heritage culture thing which i don’t agree with the above saying they’ve done that.

Veya

@Queef Burglar Yeah they know. Rana literally said so in the discussion

Captain K'nuckles

@ J.J That's such a stupid comparison. And how do the Normies use their Indian heritage for content? Daniel is a sell out because he's banking off the fact that he was a 2 time All Valley Champion to sell foreign cars to people. It's not that hard to understand.

Captain K'nuckles

Is the Castelvania group changing or staying the same for the Nocturne reactions?

LeFlaneur

Fun fact yeah that's obvious thanks for your input

CodePhoenix13

Fun fact: actors generally act in multiple roles

Douglas Kelley

Well they basically acknowledged the same thing afterwards but this shows the power of protagonist centric framing. It was just kind of funny how much just going off the energy and vibe can distort things.

Veya

Im so sick of the term sell out. Oh you wanna make money doing something? fuckin sellout, you should do everything for free always

Zen Reacts

Yeah that's like saying half the normies are sell outs cause they use their Indian heritage for content on this channel.

J. J.

Now what did Danny ever do for you guys to call him a sellout. All he did was make something of his life and become someone. Have anyone ever said y’all sold out for starting a company ??

Sonicluis

Iight, you walked it back in the post discussion but y'all were real zesty towards my boy Danny in this reaction, that's craaaazy lol Sold out? Nahh my man just grew up broke and now he got the bag! Johnny grew up well off and got hung up on his trauma and ended up in a starkly different position. The parallels and dichotomies in this show are dope, these reactions will surely be fun. Can't wait to hear what Pat's takes are on certain events lol

A. P.

#sundayrundown ed asner plays the stepdad and is an infamous voice actor in a LOT of dc/comic book related media, some of which you will recognize. hudson in gargoyles, kent nelson in young justice (the guy who wore the fate helmet before zatanna's father), granny goodness and hephaestus in justice league/superman animated series, J. Jonah from the spiderman 90s animated series, and the wuncler on boondocks to name a few. this man has been apart of all our childhoods/lives in some ways. literally for me nearly my entire life since im an 80s baby/90s kid and grew up on all these shows plus his live action work on mary tyler moore show via nick at nite. A LEGEND. #RESTINPOWER

rickie woodson

yeah its just a power dynamic with an underline of superiority. "hahah technically i kicked him in his face hahaha" douchey but not enraging. he is just a pompous rich dude. thats how they be. "boys will be boys" as they say...............

rickie woodson

Definite legend. RIP to him but his great work will endure.

Darksteel78

bonsai is the plant, banzai is a phrase one says of excitement kinda like cheers. "the nicks won! BANZAI!" or at a party "BANZAI" then you drink or dance or turn the music on. miyagi talks about it in the first film

rickie woodson

Which they'll get to in time, of course, on the show. (Not calling you out for spoilers, to be clear! Just noting that, yep, Johnny's son is part of the series.)

Jeff K

sad pat isnt here. he is missed. send him my well wishes. now on to the main event!

rickie woodson

#sundayrundown the picture that rana is talking about was on Johnny's fridge in the beginning. It's Johnny's son

Queef Burglar

Right, I like how they're quick to jump to childhood trauma with Johnny but getting jumped by 3-4 guys on multiple occassions, pressured into fighting in a tournament twice by 2 adults or else it's open season on him isn't worse. All he did was throw some quips. Kinda funny how they call Daniel, who worked for all his success and keeps miyagi's legacy in his business a "sell-out" then don't say anything when Johnny literally takes a cheque that buys him out of someones life (and only after a result of seeing Daniel's success at that).

J. J.

With Cast;evania drawing to an end may we expect Castlevania: Noctrune season 1 as the follow up. It's starts this week, just saying.

DarkAshtar

And I guarantee that's at least a part of the reason why his career stalled out the way it did. They just did "The Karate Kid" on the Paul Scheer/Amy Nicholson podcast Unspooled, and they talked about how Macchio got stuck playing a teenager until he was 27, he was on Tiger Beat magazine covers, etc, so he got pigeon-holed early and unfortunately for him from a professional standpoint (but great for him from a personal standpoint), he just stayed so youthful looking it was hard to buy him as an adult. Hell, even in My Cousin Vinny he looked like a kid trying to play an adult, and he was almost 30 by that point.

Jeff K

Ed Asner is a legend.

Chaos T

Yeah Daniel isn’t a bully. He’s literally done nothing to Johnny this episode. He just comes across a bit swarmy and his success is used to highlight how poorly Johnny is doing but he didn’t actually *do* anything here lol. People are just thrown off by the dynamic switch and why the show gained so much traction when it first started.

Veya

Cobra Kai never dies

Chris D. Jones

@Jeff K there's some magic indistinguishable from science stuff going on with Macchio 🤣

Chaos T

Johnny's stepdad is played by Ed Asner who was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, was Santa in Elf, and voiced the old man from Up (along with fourteen million other things); I'm so glad you recognized him.

Ashleep

You guys will love it

Cobra Kai Cobra Kai Cobra kai!

kel011

It's wild. Hell, Billy Zabka is 57 and still looks great for his age, too.

Jeff K

Cobra Kai! Finally

Jacob

Hell yea we striking first today!

*ahem* COBRA KAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Trey Milliner-Williams

Ralph Macchio is 61 years old....WTF?! Does he physically age at all?

Chaos T

Fun fact not sure if y'all have noticed this yet or not but the actor that plays Miguel is also playing Jaime Reyes in Blue Beetle so it's perfect timing with y'all learning about the character Blue Beetle from Young Justice and seeing the actors roots playing Miguel in Cobra Kai just in time to watch him in the Blue Beetle movie.

CodePhoenix13

"Has this actor done anything else?" regarding William Zabka: he was basically the go-to blonde bully in the '80s, starting with Karate Kid but then in movies like Just One of the Guys and Back to School, and then he kinda disappeared (he was still making stuff... just not... GOOD stuff...). And then he got nominated for an Academy Award for a short film he made in 2004, and started popping up here and there in guest roles and cameos on stuff like How I Met Your Mother and Psych and Hot Tub Time Machine, and then Cobra Kai hit and pushed him back into the mainstream.

Jeff K

Finally Cobra Kai 🥋

MojoJojoGojo

Ya’ll know that Bonsai and Banzai are two different words right?!

Joshua Perez

Yaaaaaaaas Cobra Kai, a YouTube series that was so good Netflix swooped in and plucked it. There is absolutely no reason for Cobra Kai to be as good as it is, and yet here we are. One of my favorite current TV shows. (I may be biased; my fantasy football team has been named Cobra Kai for the last 15 years.)
