Psychoville: Season 1, Episode 4 David and Maureen

Comments

This is such a bonkers show. I'm really liking it so far. I love that it draws out those moments your "Oh No!" is combined with a high pitch laugh. Let's me know to what level you are enjoying it. One of these days I might combine my favourite Josh reaction sounds for a: Mobile /cell phone bundle. "Trash" "God bless em" "Ohhh Nooo 🤣" "Ah Cold Blooded" Plus many more for only $4.99 (Meant with affection.) Great to watch you enjoying these shows. It has the added element of introducing new shows to us as well.

When this episode aired originally, I honestly believed I was going to die as I could hardly breathe for laughing. I love Steve and Mark but Reece as a female, always has me creasing up.... Cathy Carter Smith, Stella and here, Maureen. The opening murder accompanied by Herrmanns' 'Psycho' score, was inspired (as was this episode by Hitchock's 'Rope') and the blowing up of the marigolds was bad enough but the "Well shall I put the kettle on, I'm absolutely gasping!" line killed me... then came the Tampac, the Smash, Freudian Clit.....and the Bontempi!! Fuck, I hadn't laughed so hysterically at a TV programme in ages!

There's a David Sowerbutts video on youtube where he's reacting to an advert for Inside No.9 series 6. (Very good; worth watchin'. Only 5 mins long.)

Oh no lol 😂

After Work Reactions

This was really good, I've never seen that movie I'll have to see if Tay has.

After Work Reactions

I did, it was really cool how it was done that way.

After Work Reactions

That is great news 👍 I am looking forward to it 😁

I remember dancing to that black lace number 'superman' back in the day.😂 Even had the single!! This was certainly one of my absolute favorite episodes. So fantastic to see all three 'league of gentlemen' geniuses back together aswell.

If you can find the behind the scenes footage on this episode it’s well worth a watch to see how it was filmed in (almost) a single take.

Dylan

Yes, this whole episode is a homage to 'Rope' by Hitchcock -- film about a gay couple who kill someone; put him in a box; and then use the box to serve drinks to the victim's family. Filmed in 10 minute long takes, which was incredibly odd in the Golden Age of Hollywood /'50s.

Nell Sun

In case you were wondering, that crap song (Superman) was an actual chart hit in the 80s for awful cheesy pop band Black Lace. Also, in 2010 they re-recorded adult versions of their earlier hits. You can probably guess where this is going. Ladies and gentlemen, from 'The Blue Album' I give you...Supercock! https://youtu.be/NHN-PhcWS4M Featuring such inspired lyrics as "Waggle your bum, get ready to cum!"

David Lyons

This episode is brilliant. They used a Hitchcock device of setting an entire episode in one room. Reece and Steve say in interviews that they came up for the idea of Inside Number 9 after they made this episode. It's a real fan fave, I'm a bit jealous that you're watching this for the first time, my wife and I were in tears when we watched this first time round and they started doing the Superman dance routine.

HB

Here's a clip explaining how and why they did it, along with some behind the scenes footage of how they actually pulled off those takes. It's amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3e1qHOxIyE

Great episode with a few laugh out loud moments 😁 love how they filmed it like Rope, which is one of my favourite Hitchcock films.

Thanks

It's during the zoom in on the cabinet when they are moving the body whilst the "detective" is upstairs in the toilet- still an incredible feat & a seamless break however!

Did you notice the whole episode was done in almost one shot? Apparently there's one cut somewhere, but I haven't noticed it.

SP

I think this episode is what inspired Inside No 9 - a whole episode set in one single location.

Not exactly the correct place to post this news but simply cannot wait until Inside Number Nine Day on Saturday to share this- it was announced only yesterday that there will be a new Christmas special episode of Inside Number Nine showing on the BBC on Christmas Eve this year! Lol looks like the Inside Number Nine reactions will be unexpectedly extended for an extra week -not that I’m complaining! 😄. Just a thought but seeing as though Christmas Eve this year falls on a Saturday (which is Inside Number Nine Day anyway) maybe for that particular week you might consider foregoing the standard episode order and react to the new Christmas special on the day of its premiere instead (provided you have the available time during the festivities obviously🎅)? You never know if Reece and Steve are planning some kind of semi-interactive “Deadline” style of episode again lol (without the live aspects however). Whatever you decide to do I cannot wait to see what those two madmen have in store for us this Christmas and will enjoy it a second time when the time comes for you to react to it dude👍.
