SEVENTEEN "17 IS RIGHT HERE" | ReacttotheK Weekly #32

We're only talking about the 4 new tracks on this album so surely this will be one of our shortest episodes yet, right? ...Right??

Well...in this episode we talked about "MAESTRO" for nearly an hour straight, dug the dubstep inspiration on the rebellious "LALALI," and felt spellbound by the polymeter on the vibey amapiano track "Spell."

I'm listening to your review of LALALI and I'm pretty sure Coups and Mingyu say : Malone 처럼 free throw and not flow. So it would reference a basketball player!

Always loving your Seventeen reaction! About maestro, I agree that it seemed like they just sprinkled classical music terms for metaphorical purposes so the lack of text painting could be disappointing, but if I listen to the beats without the lyrics, I still feel the song builds up energy to the dance break and I like it a lot. I think they focused more on the fact that they still produce their music and keep going strong in the industry which is why they are "Maestros" in the k-pop industry (plus the battle against AI which I get but don't care about.) Keep up the good work!

Thanks for addressing the concern about the negative critics for maestro reaction. Even with have my very limited knowledge about music and classical musical, I do have a feeling this might not be everyone’s cup of tea because of the using of classical terms and midi like you guys mentioned. This is just my opinion but I think if you already have a feeling the critics can cause negative influence (even not intentionally) it’s better if you guys dont post the reaction on youtube because of reasons you have said. Even the short vertical videos, because people then would be questioning why you only have short reaction vids instead of a whole reaction for this song. I personally love this song in terms of a whole performance with the little references to their old titles with the dance and the music. It felt like a wrapped up package of everything they did up until now with the hint of there’s more coming in the future. I think it suit the best album theme.
