[Teen Talk] Ep. 12 - Scary Movie 2
Added 2022-07-05 21:00:03 +0000 UTC
The Dad Crew goes deep on episode twelve of the new season, including how Beth visually conveyed the two Scarys while recording, the litany of Beth May Killshots in this ep, the mind-bending Scrunchie Paradox, and the recurring background characters across episode intros.
Plus, they take some listener questions and get into pranks everyone has pulled growing up, the best entrance music for entering a room, rebellious moments as kids, and how to take the leap into making art professionally with a life full of adult responsibilities.
Sounds like everyone should just let the elevator ride to the originally selected floor, then select the next highest etc

The elevator at where I work is weird. If I'm in there and someone else comes in and presses a higher number, the elevator will skip my floor and go to theirs. Talk about awkward for everybody.

With all the elevator etiquette in this episode, I'm really glad my office building has a floor selection screen outside the elevators, so you press which floor you need and the system groups convenient floors together as they get to the lobby. Totally eliminates my embarrassment as going to 3

Just gotta say, the editing on this show has always been spectacular and this season it continues to be excellent.

This part at the end about starting creative activates as an adult was incredible, i picked up the same hobbies as matt and wasted way to much on primer when i just needed to start painting

I often tell people: Do what you love because you love it. Youβre going to suck at everything the first time. You have to get through the suck phase with love. Have fun not caring about the outcome.
Maybe youβll be able to show other people the results of your hard work one day. But that hard work takes lots of time and the only way to get through it is love what you do.

Question: Without spoiling anything, how much do the teens know about their grandfathers? What are the relationships between the OG Daddies and their respective grandchild like?

I have a story exactly the same as Matt's teacher story except with math and no one backed me up apart from the head teacher.

The phrase "the tools should match the craftsman" is something I always tell people getting into something. If you are a novice at painting, you should have novice tools. Both as a safe guard against spending too much and as a learning technique because if you have top tier equipment you may not know foundational knowledge you would learn using more basic tools and techniques.

Omg the elevator thing! I have an injury in my neck, and also have serious asthma. Some random dude got judgy with me for getting off on the 4th floor, and he unfortunately picked a day where I was on my last straw. I don't think he will EVER say anything like that again. I thought the scrunchie solution came from the fact that the Doodler Scary sensed them tracking the scrunchie, and then stealing it off the real Scary and leaving her without any scrunchie. So when the locate showed them Fake Scary was holding the object and real scary had no scrunchie on hand, the teens thought the scrunchie was magically non-fungible and that the Doodler creature wouldn't have it on hand. So then Will confidently pointed out A had the scrunchie and B was sus af

I can't think of a good teacher story rn, but my younger sibling will never get over our high school English teacher saying that the green light in The Great Gatsby symbolizes life because that's THE ONLY MEANING green could possibly have. He was unmoved by my sibling pointing out that green is also commonly used to symbolize money and envy

I remember in Elementary school fighting with a Geography teacher who was teaching us what peninsulas were and I said that Baja California was one and she said that it wasn't. The US map in the room cut off halfway down Baja California and she argued that below that cut off it curved back to connect with the rest of Mexico and there was just a big lake there. I wish we had the internet in the classroom back then to bring up another map.

Given Video Game adaptations are coming thick and fast, which director would you pair with which game franchise. E.g. (Early) Tarantino does Grand Theft Auto, or the Wachowski sisters doing Cyberpunk 2077.

And in high school I got into a fight with my creative writing teachee bc she thought i made up a fake word (which if I had done should have been extra points!). The word was tintinnabulation.

Re: teachera being wrong. In 4th grade I wrote a paper about 3 toed sloths and included the fact that some moths lived and bred in their fur. My teacher said I was wrong and took points ofd. I brought in the NATGEO magazine from home that I used as a source with a whole article about the moths and ahe wouldnt give me my points back. 28 years later and im still a little salty.
