I gotta say, the most interesting part for me was finding out how Goku using Super Saiyan Blue plus Kaio-Ken was an anime exclusive. Meaning it's non-canon since Akira Toriyama never actually wrote that. So I guess you could say he planned for Goku to overcome Hit's Time-Skip ability, but left it vague as to how or why.

The Manga for Super is a very unique experience compared to the usual Manga. A studio or whoever handles all of that technical stuff, they would look up a popular manga and determine whether they want to adapt it or not. Then they would go and base the Anime off the manga. For example, with the original Z (the Japanese release (sub)) the anime was generally the same with a few deviations based on when it was released in comparison with the Manga. Depending on that it could get a negative or positive reception which was usually dependent on what we got. In Z everything was generally the same with some sprinkles of changes and alterations made because of factors involving when they were being made. (I don't know the big details like if Z was super close to catching up to the manga, but that is how we got the Garlic Junior Saga which was mainly negatively received) Let's look at Gohan's time surviving in the wild, in the Manga that only went as far as Gohan going Great Ape leading to Piccolo blowing up the moon and giving Gohan a new Gi and sword. In the anime we got a lot of in-between episodes, like a lot. We got an episode where Gohan befriended a Dinosaur, an episode where Gohan met an aging Robot and an episode where Gohan joined a band of surviving orphans. From what I remember they were generally well received despite seeming to be filler content because it was really good writing. Granted I thought the volume was a little much, I usually skip all of these in-between Gohan episodes because there are so many of them and they ultimately don't matter since their filler, when we hit the Saiyans and Piccolo's training everything before stops mattering because it is sticking closer to the manga which didn't have that stuff. The general story was the same, the Saiyans still arrived, and those general episodes were much closer to the Manga than the series of episodes that we got in the period between Gohan getting his Gi and Piccolo starting his real training. Super is a very VERY different beast because the anime came first for the most part. We would get arcs where the general plot was generally the same but several big details were massively different. Like Goku and Vegeta would fight the same people, but the events of those fights were different in big ways. One such way I feel makes the Manga version of this arc substantially inferior to the anime. That difference is the handling of Hit, Hit in the anime was treated as a much bigger threat. Goku and Vegeta had to struggle to overcome his time Skip with Vegeta having different reasons for failing where Goku suceeded. Goku still struggled even after figuring it out because Hit was improving during the fight just like he was. In the manga Hit was always on the backfoot because in the manga we got Super Saiyan God early so Hit was constantly being surprised by a new form. It was nice to get it, but Hit was the big threat of that arc, but he became much less menacing because he didn't give Goku as much a challenge as in the anime. This is bad considering the likes of Tien and Roshi where big roadblocks in previous Tournament arcs so Hit unfortunately became a severe downgrade, especially compared to his Anime version. In the anime Hit was constantly improving the number of seconds he could skip through time forcing Goku to improve in turn creating an interesting dynamic between the two especially when Champa and Beerus began interfering with the match because of their pissing contest. In the Manga Goku just jumped into his greater forms every time he lagged behind. There wasn't much deciding what he would do to overcome HIt because Blue just wasn't enough for the anime. With this we got the re-emergence of the Kaioken but added on Blue which was a nice callback and a nice way to give Goku an advantage, but Hit still improved after that. His threat still remained even when he was surprised by Blue Kaioken. The struggling part of the Manga was far less because Hit was constantly getting that new form surprise. Hit just didn't seem like a threat because he simply wasn't good enough to handle all of Goku's forms which is from where I'm standing a sever downgrade since Hit is supposed to be the big challenger at the tournament. Still, it was generally well received though it should be mentioned Super did split the Dragon Ball community several ways. Like there are now Anime and Manga fans which goes beyond the usual due to the strange existence of Super's Manga with the anime emerging first. It's a really interesting tale which only grows as the Manga continues following the anime.

oh this is a fun change of pace, honestly for the most part I prefer DBS's manga over the anime, for Super Toriyama didn't actually draw the manga for the most part, he didn't want to have to write and draw an ongoing series again, he likes designing characters but he doesn't like having to draw them over and over again for a monthly series, so he found a sort of successor who could draw in his style called Toyotaro, Toriyama would write the outline for the story and character designs, then he'd hand it off to Toyotaro to fill in the details by drawing and writing the chapters, the same thing happened with the anime as well, so there were some differences between the two, he was more hands on with the manga so it tended to be better. Toriyama would supervise and make corrections, we saw from behind the scenes things Toyotaro shared that Toriyama did redraw some pages were he thought they needed improving though, and you can tell why Toriyama was known as a master artist from them, his death was an irreplaceable loss to the industry.
