I think curtis should watch that ova since it does get referenced later on and it would be confusing to see characters that came from that arc suddenly be part of the main story

2024-07-12 16:22:42 +0000 UTCThere was a Baki OVA (original video animation, basically direct to home release with no showing on TV) that came out in the 90's before this that covered part of the series, and it covers a karate tournament that takes place between episode 16 and 17 of this show and that is part of Baki becoming more famous locally. They skipped over it in this series because they considered it redundant as it had already been made and they wanted to get straight to the next major arc. Also, while Baki is the underground champion, he's only been fighting the local regulars so far. Some big names like Doppo (the bald guy with glasses) didn't even know he was around.
