DETOX has no combat capabilities against Carrier Gel, and while the goo golem rapidly ingests survivors through her navel port and infects them with a cocktail of diseases, DETOX can only capture and carry so many before Carrier Gel nabs them.
Carrier Gel's goo is breathable, and was originally intended on acting as a patient transport from infected areas to a quarantine, however her behavioral conditioning has suffered a fault and her gel now remains a breeding ground for highly infectious viruses.
