Q: Any side effects of neurofeedback
A: There can be with traditional neurofeedback. Which is ironically the most well studied. This is part of the problem with NF in general, particularly people who tried it and claimed it didn't do anything for them.
You need to be using a dynamic systems oriented platform, which is why I push people towards NO. While the research on DSO isn't as extensive as the more 'traditional' forms, virtually every clinician who uses DSO will tell you it works far better. That's why the research on NF is super heterogeneous with regard to psychiatric disorders. I've used both as well and the difference is significant.
The problem with brain mapping (and the 'power up' and 'power down' protocols) is that you're essentially 'guessing' what the brain needs. If you have someone who's 'tired but wired' and haphazardly give them a 'power up' protocol aimed at cortical arousal, you're going to create more issues than you fix. It's really the same principle with regard to over coaching athletes vs a self organization or constraints lead approach.
Q: Lifestyle at all determines long term effects of the jab?
A: Keep the DNA that's been altered 'quiet’. The more that DNA is unwound and translated, the more of a chance that those frame shift mutations cause problems. It all comes down to numerous lifestyle decisions. But I would tell you to read the article I wrote about this on the patreon and follow those suggestions. Bio-regulator peptides are invaluable for those that took it
Q: Any health risks too much sun exposure aside from skin cancer
A: UV radiation WILL induce changes in the skin microenvironment that affect the composition and function of your resident immune cells. For better or worse depending on the dose. The enhanced production of chemokines in response to UV radiation does create gradients that attract T cells to areas of inflammation or tumorigenesis. So it's an important part of immune surveillance. That recruitment is massive for the early detection of oncogenic transformations and ultimately the elimination of malignant (cancerous) cells. But by the same token (and surely through the same pathways) you can also get immunosuppression (this is well documented) and MORE inflammation. UV exposure has a direct effect on dendritic cells which are in the skin as well. Those play a key role in initiating immune responses because they capture antigens and present them to T cells. So UV light is necessary for that. Too much damages them.
Q: Any connection to candida making EDS worse
A: It's more the EDS making the Candida worse due to mutations in pathways associated with mucosal immunity. But technically yes since everything is bi directional. I wrote a post on this a while back - genetic mutations, specifically in the MAPKS gene encoding JNK1 that's re often associated with certain connective tissue disorders are also associated with chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis since these pathways are important for mucosal immunity Candida and fungus often invades mucous membranes. I have a patreon article on it as well with suggestions. HMO's are big
Q: Why do you think some serious conditions take much longer to improve
A: The idea that it can take several years for cell membranes to completely renew should be the obvious answer, especially when you consider the lifespan of certain types of cells in the body.
For example, neurons can last a lifetime and often don't undergo significant turnover in tissues where cells are regularly replaced, like skin or blood cells, membrane turnover can occur much faster. You're looking at multiple years (maybe decades) for some big neurological diseases. Same for post-mitotic cells like cardiomyocites
Q: Any thoughts on too much salt? Seems like the recommended daily amount for most is still low
A: You can get too much of anything. It you're not sweating profusely, it's unlikely you need to be consuming a ton of additional salt outside of what you're using to salt meals for taste. I do typically like adding some to water before bed, especially to improve sleep for some. I do think most people need more than the RDA though particularly active people. Also, keep in mind that hypertonic saline infusions (literally a mega dose of IV salt) is a primary treatment for stage 4 heart failure and dysautonomia/POTS according to conventional allopathic medicine. If there wasn't a very clear risk-to-reward for consuming more salt, we wouldn't be doing it clinically. If you have kidney issues or are sedentary, then I think a lot of the salt advice can be problematic for some.
It's contextual. I'm somewhere in the middle. I usually get around 3-3.56 sodium daily.
Q: Tried lots for anxiety. Do you think JC could cure it?
A: Yea I'm not a fan of the word 'cure' because there's never going to be one thing that 'cures' anything.
There ARE lots of things that can be effective though. I actually just had someone try to argue with me over DM's about this with regard to the OCD question. One of the big issues with supplements is that most people take a horrendous approach to sell treatment (usually with random herbs and remedies) and then make the faulty assumption that the more isolated pieces of the puzzle don't have any any value.
Then they use this to poorly extrapolate out on to other people with similar conditions. This is 1 precisely the problem I discuss frequently on this page actually - trying a bunch of useless ' home remedies’ and random supplements you found online because you ‘did your own research’ doesn’t mean you can now conclude your condition was more difficult to manage because you had no initial guidance and wasted countless resources and efforts. That's effectively throwing blindfolded darts at a target and claiming it's impossible to hit a bullseye. That also doesn't mean you’re going to find a magic ‘cure’ with one supplement. That being said, the JC and the things mentioned prior DO tend to work very well for a lot of people as a part of a larger plan, and I see this with tons of clients reliably.
Q: Any recs for somone in a new work enviro that has no natural light/lots of blue, resulting in headaches?
A: Daytime blue blockers is probably the only thing other than maybe having a red light panel you use to ofiset some of the blue while working at a desk. You could even just turn on the NIR setting (which is invisible if you're around other people) and get benefits from that for the eyes as well.
Lots of companies like Bon Charge make daytime blue blockers with yelllowl lense.
Some of them don't look too bad either
Q: Possibly silly question: But is there any benefits to sunbeds?
A: They can be. The problem is that it's hard to get the dose right and you're potentially playing with fire if used improperly) due to the intensity. It's like trying to do graded exposure with barbell knee jumps after getting ACL surgery. Margin for error is a lot smaller, and you don't have the red and infrared light presently that naturally protects the skin when exposed to sunlight. I would honestly recommend just taking a vacation to the Tropics* (if possible) during the winter if you live at a high latitude without a lot of sun. The UV index in Texas is pretty solid, sometimes even into December. Next best option would be a Sperti vitamin D lamp. Honestly, you could probably sit under a reptile bulb and get the same benefit as the Sperti but for cheaper. Red light therapy is also great during the winter and so are infrared bulbs
Q: Healing CFS: Ang temporarily/ short term supplements for energy levels
A: D-ribose, oxyloacetate and potentially creatine (like cregAAtine because there's some studies showing that form is absorbed in the gray matter of the brain, which theoretically should support cognition). Like you said — these are temporary possible 'feel goods' for some. With that being said, giving recommendations on CFS is hard because everyone can respond to variably to supplements. These have been studied and used both anecdotally and clinically by many though. They don't tend to cause a lot of issues in my experience and they can be good temporary crutches to help manages symptoms while you get to the 'root' hate that word because it's not really accurate but you get the point hopefully) of the issue
Q: Do effects of Shilajit become less potent overtime if you don't opt to take under tounge?
A: It's not going to be less potent overtime' but it will be less potent if
'feeling it' is what you're after in general. I always dissolve the mitolife tablets under the tongue. You can still get most of the general health benefits swallowing them though. I always feel obligated to say this anytime someone asks about Shilajit now just so everyone, especially new followers reading are aware) mitolife is the ONLY place I recommend getting Shilajit from. You can find it in the bio under the mitolife tab. Lots of terrible, poorly sourced and over priced products on the market right now due to the explosion in popularity
Q: Are there any supplements you'd recommend for OCD / anxiety
A: Yes. Just Calm. Just thrives psychobiotic formulation.
Had tons of people use it successfullly for OCD, compulsive-like behaviors and intrusive thoughts as well. OCD is very easily treatable with things like this and neurofeedback (particularly neurOptimal if you can find a practitioner) works wonders for many I've worked one on one with
Q: Grounding/earthing have true benefits? I ordered a grounding sheet to try for myself
A: Of course. Quote from part of an article I wrote on the patreon about - (would be a good read for you if you want to understand more of the science. Also cover how to do it properly). Biological cycles are similarly controlled not only by light cycles during the day and night but also by daily tidal changes in the earths geomagnetic field. It would make sense that cyclic patterns In the earths magnetic field, - even if extremely small - could have a similar impact on our circadian rhythms.
Becker described the impact of magnetic fields on the pineal gland beautifully in cross-currents: 'it has been shown that the pineal is also sensitive to the daily cyclic pattern in the Earth's magnetic field.
Melatonin secretion in human subjects may be changed at will by exposure to steady magnetic fields of the same strength as the geomagnetic field. Apparently, nature determined that biological cycle activity was too important to be left to one environmental signal alone.
Oh also...absolutely do not plug the ground mat into the outlet as it's often suggested. This does the opposite of grounding and it's insane the manufacturers of these products still tell people to do this. You'll get tons of dirty electricity from that unless your house is grounded. Which you wouldn't know unless you had an electrician check it for you. Grounding mats need to be used with a long cord, and ran into the ground with a copper rod. You need to avoid grounding it if there's electrical infrastructure under ground. I would suggest reading the article on patreon before you try using a grounding mat.
There's actually quite a few different things you need to consider (otherwise you'll get the opposite effect) and I plan on updating it with some additional info later today.
Q: Best treatment you've seen for Raynauds
A: Transcutaneous carbon dioxide therapy. BodyStream suit + carbon dioxide from welding supply store.
Next best option would be doing C02 baths. I have a few articles on the patreon covering it (medical gas bagging) for injuries as well. It's not the only thing you need to consider (there's lots of diet and lifestyle modifications and I would definitely be aiming for 2, 45-60min zone 2 cardio sessions per week), but if you wanted to go with the 'best' (from a general treatment standpoint) that would probably it. It also works well for virtually any issue involving poor circulartion and you'll probably notice almost immediate improvements from it
