About the Twitch VOD and future livestreams πŸ‘€

Hello my gemlins 😘

I saw some of you wondering where the last livestream's VOD is. Especially since I said it'd be available for you to watch in case you couldn't catch the stream. In the end I decided to take it down this time.

Let me explain why.

I really, really enjoyed the stream and it's fun discussing various topics with chat! I don't want to outright ban topics, I want everyone to feel like they can talk about pretty much anything, because I think hearing each other's different opinions and experiences is important!

However, I realised that I do need to set some ground rules, both for the audience and myself.

We discussed some kind of sensitive topics during the last stream that I wasn't really prepared for and I'm not confident that I managed to express myself adequately enough (hello language barrier) and I'm also not sure if it'd be good for the chat and what everyone wrote to be publicly available until the end of time. So I decided to take the VOD down.

This sounds way more dramatic than it was, there's really no tea to spill or anything, I'm just cautious and trying to learn to navigate the Twitch landscape better as I go on! I know a lot of streamers don't really consider what's going on in chat to be too much of their responsibility, but I do feel very responsible for mine. As I said, I want it to be a place where everyone can feel comfortable discussing things, and I want to learn to moderate that a bit better! My streams are still very small but I'm surprised how difficult it already is to navigate chat when there's just ~20 people talking XD

So if I want to keep the atmosphere friendly for a long time, here's what I think I'm gonna do:

1) Update the rules

You can discuss almost any topic (exceptions in 2.)), but I ask you to consider that whatever you type in chat, will be visible publicly forevermore, so please think deeply about what you're okay with sharing in a public chat. And also please think about if what you're typing could affect someone else in chat negatively. We're all from different countries, have different life experiences, different age groups, etc etc, so please be mindful of what you say in a group setting like this, where you can never know who might be watching and potentially get hurt.

2) Please no sensitive topics

Topics I wouldn't want to encourage in chat are those of a more sensitive nature, like anything related to hate in all its ugly shapes, be it racism, ableism, homophobia and all that jazz. While these are important topics to discuss, I don't think a Twitch chat is the correct setting for productive discourse and expression. I'm not β€žbanningβ€œ these topics, because I can't really control what people type in chat, but i do not encourage them and I will reserve the right to either delete specific comments (if necessary put people into timeout too) or ignore them and move the conversation along to different topics.

Other than that, I know you guys are smart enough to know what's appropriate and what isn't, but I do think in the heat of the moment it's easy to forget the two things mentioned above! I will have to remember these rules for myself too, when I go on my next rant XD

I might also get one or two mods for chat, because I can't always guarantee I'm seeing everything that's going on, or sometimes too late, so it'd be good to have some help with that every now and then.

Please take care of yourselves in these weird, weird times!! Depending on how I feel I might actually stream again next week, just for some entertainment and distraction!

That's it for now! :) πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

PS: I was going to edit the stream down into a timelapse that I could post to Youtube, but I just realised Streamlabs didn't record the stream and since I already deleted the VOD, the whole 7.5 hours of footage are gone 😭 I'm really sorry about that, I'll make sure to properly record next time OTL

Comments

Still, I'm so so sorry for that. I wasn't thinking about the effects my words could have and I guess my willing of make my words clear so noone will misunderstand them made it even worse. I'm really sorry about that.

I was only in chat for a few minutes since it was ridiculously early in the morning for me and I was struggling to stay awake. I agree things that make you or others feel uncomfortable really shouldn't be discussed during a light hearted art stream like you have. There's plenty of other places people can express their views on topics that aren't your twitch chat. As for mods ask Fanta and maybe one or two other regular viewers if they can help you out with that.that πŸ’ž
