Shure SM58 for home recording?

Nope, get a condenser mic instead. You will also need, a xlr cable in to your soundcard with "Phantom power +48v/p48".

Next a pop filter, stand, and set up a closet in your house or make a makeshift corner with blankets.

Cut low, de ess, compress. Time based effects should be added later but you can listen to yourself with it on without having to print it in.

So you are looking to do a podcast? Haha dude. I need specifics. If it's loud people talking than yes a sm58bis fine. If it's recording vocals for music go condenser

thx G! weird that many podcasters use dynamic mics (e.g. shure sm7) instead of condenser mics
