When creating do your own thing. Do what feels right for you. When mixing just split the drum rack out and mix like that. It is way less fiddly

Thank you for the vid boss! You hit the nail on the head. While I find grabbing a kit is a nice way to come up with a creative idea, once I've done that it's a nightmare to try to pull apart and adjust the individual elements. I tried extracting the individual chains, however, it appears doing this strips the pads of whatever effects racks were part of the kit and everything sounds different. Duplicating the racks as you suggest is a workaround for this but I guess I was looking for suggestions on a production workflow that creates less headaches when it comes time to mix. When I watch you mix it seems you are not a big fan of fancy effects racks and lean a bit more minimalistic w eq/compress/limit. I'm new enough at this I'm not set in any set way so open to any tips.
