Label or self release

Couple of questions bring this to a simple answer of yes or no.

1. Do I like looking at statistics, reaching out, making playlists and a bit of admin? (If yes go for your own label)
2. Does my significant other or group of friends listen to my music on repeat?  If yes and you said no to the question above try focussing on a label with lots of distribution channels. If no, it's ok to go to a smaller label or do a self release.

Most importantly though, release more and produce more.

Last tip. Do not pay them for mastering.

However terrible this is for you.. it's very useful information thank you so much for sharing!

I used to release on some small shitty labels. Got ripped off. By the way if you only care about Spotify statistics, you can actually see those tracks released on other labels on your Spotify statistics. One of my goals now that I do my own releases is to beat on statistics those old fucking tracks I get plays from but never have and never will see a dime from. I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes you can see them but no, you may not find it so pleasing. Go with big labels that actually has weight in real life, which you can use to leverage your name and your own label (You can totally do both big label and own label) . But doing small label and own label is useless and doing small label might hurt your chances of ever doing big label, so 🤷‍♂️
