Okay, so we've finally answered the big why question about Clay. This is all a means to an end of getting him back at the head of the table. Of course it is. I should have seen this. We all should have seen this.
Unser heads over to the house where the nomads and Clay have been holed up. And, while pretending to just introduce himself, he pokes around and asks some questions. But the big reveal for him, is the giant ass gash on GoGo. He pretty much knows exactly what's going on and reports back to Jax. And one of the nomads (again, they all run together for me) tells Clay what happened.
Clay is upset and they both know that it's time for Unser to go. They make a plan for Clay to get there first, sweep for weapons, and then the nomads show up in their home invasion masks and kill him. However, when Clay gets there, Unser keeps a gun trained on him the whole time. But then, when the attack actually happens, Clay kills one nomad and Unser kills the other. I guess, right now, it's better for Clay not to have this nomad shit blow back at him, but it seems like an interesting choice not to kill Unser afterwards. But, for now, Unser appears to be safe (although we still have a missing nomad).
So, Tara decides to head to the cabin first (with Tig in tow) to set things up while Jax finishes up some of the things he needs to do here. They agree to let Gemma watch the boys, and all seems fine. Ha.
On the way back from wherever they were (I actually think it was important, but I can't remember where), Jax and Chibs are run off the road by some guys in a van. Then, they are shot at repeatedly with fucking machine guns. I think Jax gets shot in the leg, but Chibs seems okay. Jax (pretty sure it was Jax) manages to shoot and kill one, while the other gets away in the van. I don't know who this guy is, but I think we're supposed to assume he's related to Pope in someway. I kind of figure Clay set this up to take the heat off himself.
And then we've got Gemma. Who is super happy to be asked to pick up the kids. However, this is after she and Unser smoke a joint. So, she gets the kids and while they are driving home, she seems super stoned and is sort of falling asleep and the car is drifting around. Then, a semi shows up and she swerves at the last minute, causing the car to ram into a barrier and crash down a hill.
Now, Gemma, Jax, Tara, Bobby, Unser. Everybody on this show is smoking all the damn time. I'm supposed to believe that this one time it's too much for Gemma? I know Tara has mentioned her drinking and smoking too much in the past and that's part of whey she didn't want her around the kids, but her splitting a joint with Unser should not produce this outcome. Right?
Anyway, the aftermath of this is an unconscious Gemma, Thomas seems to be mostly okay, and a not great Abel. It's dark and I couldn't see well, but that kids is dripping blood. Tara is never going to forgive Gemma. And I'm also worried she might not forgive Jax either as he sort of talked her into this.
Dude. You guys. This is all so much. I'm so glad I don't live this kind of life. I'd never make it. How Tara and Unser are doing it, I'll never know.
