My guess is that Unity is such a major player that the backlash will be small. You might see them make other bad management decisions in the future, but i think as a platform to be on, it will be pretty safe.

Sorry for the late response.
That's reassuring. I just don't want to go without a update for such a long time always.
In regards of Unity I didn't read much about that anymore but there were also not really any news popping up in my feeds. However, I'm not affected by the pricing changes as I mentioned before so I don't really look deeper into that. What I'm more concerned with is the development of Unity and their internal communication. I can't really understand how such major decisions can be made public without getting a backlash in internal discussions before. I don't understand how the reaction of the community couldn't be expected...
My fear is that this whole debacle will affect the technical development of Unity as well. That because of the drop of interest maybe they have to loose staff and the development will be even slower.
Anyway, for the moment I'll continue to use Unity as I know my way around it and take a bit of pride in basically having written the whole framework myself. Switching to another engine and implementing all the features I want would take way to much time that I don't have at the moment. When act 1 is finished I'll evaluate a engine switch but I'm fairly sure I'll stay with Unity. Not because I like to stay with the cooperation behind Unity but because it's more comfortable for me at the moment. I'm glad I have quite a stable framework by now.
However, like I said before I had plans for bigger changes on the framework, like having a 3D map or making the game easier to mod, more mini-games or even publish the framework. But I don't see myself investing too much time in the framework anymore if I still think about an engine swap.

Well, I've said it before: I think should plan your work around your artistic vision and and in a way that fit your personal life. That's how you manage to keep a project like this moving over the time that it takes to complete it.
If that means we get an update without lewd, so be it.
I know there will be people that complain, but probably not any of your paying followers.
By the way, has the dust settled around the Unity debacle? Did it force you to change anything, or could you keep everything the way it was?
