Love Interrupted

I've got a scene in my mind where Pinkie corners Midnight one day and tries to give her the shovel talk, only for Midnight to look her dead in the eye and say, "Ma'am, you're preaching to the choir about not hurting PB. I already have eighteen contingency curses prepared to lay on anyone who dares to touch a hair on his dumb, fluffy little head." And suddenly Pinkie realizes that it shouldn't be her son she should be worried about being cursed, but the few of the Cakes' patrons who tend to under-tip PB's exceptional customer service. Pinkie still doesn't understand their relationship, but she'll admit that she's a little less 'overbearing mother hen' after that.

Psst, have a headcanon. So PB is pretty big on nicknames. He grew up hearing his parents call each other pretty much every doting pet name under the sun. So he’s got a million and one for Midnight, and expresses that he’d love it if she used one for him, “How about sugar booger? Or you could call me gumdrop! Or sugar cookie, or stud muffin, or-“ until Midnight smothers him with a pillow. Buuuut.....late one night when Midnight is reading, PB is dozing off, head in her lap, when he feels her pet his hair and very quietly, almost undetectably murmur “Goodnight, gummi bear.” ANd then PB SHOOTS UP BEAMING to tackle his gf with lovin’ and Midnight quietly dies of mortification

Pandora doesn’t live in Ponyville. She resides in her own pocket dimension, like Discord did in the show, and it can be accessed using a special key. She and Cupcake travel all over the world, but can always access their secret dimension. Pinkie’s kinda especially peeved because Cupcake trained for two years to be a guard for Pandora the princess, but Pan’s coronation failed and she RAN AWAY, and Cupcake loyally followed her. Pinkie can’t help but feel Pan stole her daughter away.

First. LOVE Peeb's new look! He looks ADORABLE and I love the longer hair and glasses. Precious boi. Ponka must go nuts trying not to squeeze his cheekers every time she sees him. And I love Peebs/Smokey/Midnight, but I also love them as a pair too. Hmm..my own personal shipping hc is 1)this was before Smokey, or 2) This is post-Smokey. The three of them loved being together, but I can see Smokey get flighty too, especially with his dangerous job and fear of endangering everyone he's close to. And maybe he's just not quite ready to settle down. And that's fine. Peebs and Abby are still very, very good friends with him and get together often to hang out. And their door is always open to him should he ever decide to give it a go with them again But either way Peebs/Midnight is sooooo my jam too ❤❤❤❤

When you say Cupcake "packed up her life," does Pandora not live in Ponyville anymore? Because I do remember "Don't Go," how Cupcake joined the Royal Guard just to serve Pandora. So this is taking place while she's away? Well, it's pretty easy to see Pinkie having separation and jealousy issues. The reaction Midnight is having to Pinkie's reaction is very interesting. Even with the image Midnight's gone above and beyond to cultivate (combined with a sincere personal interest in the macabre), she doesn't seem to have wanted to push away ponies and their warmth. Now she's freaking out that even PINKIE PIE can't smile around her. So now she's going to try and salvage this one low bar.

I love how this sent her into straight up pinkie mena mode. Honestly it makes sense, she’s a momma with a lot of love to give and one by one she probably feels like she’s losing them in a sense.

That was just a maybe idea. This might be too, I like leaving it up to the viewer which ships they'd like to perceive as canon. In this particular storyline with Midnight working at Sugarcube Corner, Smoky is not part of her relationship with PB, at least not presently

Lopoddity

Is Midnight, PB, and Smokescreen still in a poly relationship or was that just a maybe idea? I like their dynamic in older stuff you made but I understand the characters are continually evolving and I'm not sure if two partners would be overwhelming for Midnight. Hope I'm not pressuring you, I love your art, your characters, and their dialogue!!!!

No shade towards Pinkie... but this is perfectly in-character for her. Throughout the show, she tended to act out (for lack of a better phrase) when she wasn’t the center of her loved ones’ attention. She’s historically never handled this kind of stuff well, so it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that she would start feeling some type of way about her own children moving on to have lives with others.
