I think it's just Kirsten's style at play. The cartoony style makes Lilian less fox-like and more dog-like. This is just my assumption as someone who is not an artist.
2021-02-03 15:15:41 +0000 UTCAm I missing something, but as drawn, Lily's head makes her look more like some form of terrier, like a Westie. Shouldn't it be longer and narrower to look more foxlike? Still, seeing it in manga form makes me feel like I'm visiting old friends.
