Hi everyone,
Sorry to do placeholder charged posts - I will have these replaced with actual videos within the next few days. This was not my month. I decided to switch to new editing software (Davinci Resolve), so I started off making 2 exclusive videos with it. It went pretty ok. I got to work trying to finish my deck (water bladder, deck boards, etc.), and then found out my mother in law had decided to come over from Italy for two weeks this month. Surprisingly big hit to my ability to get videos done. Deck too - it's still sitting with half the water drainage system exposed, to be done in a hopefully not that snowy October. While she was here, I noticed that a formerly ruined shower wall I'd repaired after fixing some probable water leak points was soft again. So I bought a moisture meter (should have done so years ago, since this house has had numerous water leak issues) and started cutting open walls, looking for a leak source that was hidden before. Found a decent amount of water damage inside the walls behind both showers. Tried a fix, didn't work (moisture still increased), tried another one, didn't work, tried a third one... maybe worked. Not sure yet. Fortunately mother in law flew back home before I had to start filming - but the day we drove her to the airport, the day before filming, I noticed I was sick (cold/flu type sick). Got sicker the next several days which slowed down the filming but didn't stop it. Got it all filmed, started editing the video in... and Resolve started crashing, repeatedly, many times over two days, and eventually bluescreened my PC, somehow so hard that I had to physically disconnect and reconnect my internal C: SSD to reset it because otherwise it wasn't detected as a bootable drive. Since that point, Resolve won't even launch anymore. There's more I could do to try to diagnose the issue, but I ran out of patience and decided that since I have all the video and audio, my best course of action is to just import everything into Premiere and redo all the editing, and give up on Resolve, at least for now. So, I hope you don't mind that the videos are slightly late.
Edit: I only made 2 exclusives. Weird, I thought I made 3.
Comments
I always heard that Resolve was rock solid, but maybe they meant "as solid as a bricked PC." Chris from Explaining Computers swears by it. I hope you can successfully transition to it and avoid the Adobe tax.

2023-10-02 23:33:25 +0000 UTCThat's what we like to call in the biz, Life! π¬ I have same leaking issues as well. My roof and my grandfather so we're good. ππ Good old Flex spray helped with my roof but it's starting winter so I might have to do a survey before full blown 40-30 degrees. My Grandfather, well that's another story.

2023-10-01 04:14:33 +0000 UTCI completely sympathize with your plumbing issues. I'm currently renovating a cheap old house that hasn't had any major changes in probably close to one hundred years. Pretty sure they installed plumbing and electrical when the town got them and that's it!

2023-09-30 13:33:12 +0000 UTCSounds like a storm of unfortunate, concurrent events befell you. You know, it's probably Yahway finally listening to Almondo and deciding to give you a gentle bit of smiting / Job-lite, etc. Fear not, your loyal fans stand by, and will be ready to enjoy your videos when they are available. No doubt the majority of us would prefer some delay and a healthier, happier Logicked, than you doing yourself further unwellness and stress and such. We are in it for the long haul. That requires you don't keel over though π FF x

2023-09-30 12:09:25 +0000 UTCAs someone with Italian inlaws, the most suspicious thing for me is that you were able to work while she was visiting! Unless you went outside to do your decking to preserve your sanity... But maybe that's just my inlaws rather than an Italian thing π . The rest of it, totally believable.

2023-09-30 08:07:11 +0000 UTCSo many things happening at once can't be a coincidence. It must be the mirror moon reverse-flying reptilian plasma-beings sabotaging you by changing the timeline of your PC to stop you from revealing their secret master plan of making your mother-in-law's plane tickets cost more even though the engines only need compressed air! Hm? Yes, I've been binging the conspiracy theory playlist again, why do you ask? Seriously though, life can be a pain in the neck sometimes. We're patient. We'll wait for you to sort things out. Take care of yourself.
