This film has, in my opinion, Hans Zimmer's best score. It fits so well with the gorgeous cinematography and adds so much tension and emotion to the film. One of my favourite moments was in the beginning of the film where the change from the string orchestra to the singing of the natives and realising that what the orchestra played matched the melody of the natives' singing. I still remember my reaction to this when I watched this film in the cinema.

You'll probably get a lot of other Terrence Malick recommendations on the YT vid but I'll preemptively echo them here as well - it'd be awesome to see The Tree of Life or The New World (Director's Cut) on the polls at some point.

2021-08-25 11:39:50 +0000 UTCMy favorite part of The Thin Red Line is a tie between the Cinematography and Jim Caviezel’s performance as Witt. Most underrated performance of 1998. If you like Jim Caviezel’s performance of Witt, got to check him out in The Count of Monte Cristo, Frequency, and The Passion of the Christ. Gives the same caliber of performance in those three films as well.
