2021-01-04 06:52:59 +0000 UTCThis is the first time I've rewatched this in more than a decade. There were repeating themes to films in the late 90s... apathy, ennui, feeling lost. I really didn't notice it at the time because maybe we were all living it. Compare the job review/firing scene to similar scenes in Fight Club and Office Space. All three movies came out in 1999 and are very different movies, but very evocative of that late 90s sense of feeling lost and trying to find meaning in one's life.
