Ampler are an insect species from a nearby timeline who bear a striking resemblance to the ants of our reality. They are small and red, with a three segment body and six legs built to carry them over nearly any terrain, including across ceilings or up walls. Their heads sport a mandible-equipped mouth and a pair of small white eyes. The most notable difference between an ampler and an ant are the large protrusions that sprout from this creature’s head. These growths are nothing more than small numbs when an ampler is born, but over the course of the creature’s relatively short lifespan their antlers will grow.
Amplers create a natural electrical charge, which slowly builds as the creature goes about their day. This kinetic energy fills their body, waiting for a release that finally comes in the form of crackling blue bursts around their antlers. Sometimes, this eruption occurs when an ampler encounters a rival colony and these armies launch their attacks on one another, but more often this is a sign that that ampler swarms have encountered natural ants from our timeline. In this situation, the natural ant colony is swiftly destroyed, unable to keep up with the mighty shocks from ampler antlers.
This display of tiny crackling blue lights is, admittedly, quite beautiful, similar to fireflies but scattered across the ground. However, it is recommended this invasive species is dealt with swiftly when encountered. Ampler infestations are known for just how out of control they can get in a short amount of time.
If amplers use their electric shock on humans, it will produce a sudden, quick jolt. However, the pain is minimal.
