Dorm girls clothing design

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all having a nice Xmas!

For me it’s always a moment to relax a bit. And so I’ve spent these days playing a few boardgames while drinking lots of hot choclatemilk. And it has been quite enjoyable so far. But the same goes for last week actually, where I’ve being drawing lots of girls -which is always fun :)

Futuristic Clothing

Now the girls I'm drawing will all appear in their school-dorm, where they are about to have a singles valentines party.

So design-wise, I imagined that the girls would either be dress pretty casual (since they are home and don’t need to impress any boys), or would slightly dressed up for the party ( perhaps wearing a simple dress or their best shoes).

And adittionally, I felt their clothing should also look a tiny bit retro-futuristic, but not by adding nonsensical things like spacesuit elements- wich would be inappropriate here of course.

So therefore I started by drawing the girls in casual cloting as we know it today, and from there on I’ve been making small changes to make it look more futuristic. Now currently I’m more or less half way that design process. So some girls still have pretty basic outfits, and others are already more as they should be. And this is what I have so far.

When designing this girls cloting, I first gave her a pretty basic sweater- and later on changed this to something more stylized. I also tried adding a hoop around her waist to add a futuristic element, but that seemed to nonsensical, and so I changed that into a stylized belt for her skirt. And after a few small changes here and there I eventually landed on a clothing design that felt both casual and retro-futuristic. So this outfit will be more or less the standard for the rest of the girls outfits.

Now the clothing of this girl is not particular futuristc yet. Here I just cut a round part from the back of ther top, to change it up a bit. But I plan to add a few more futuristic elements to the front, when she stands up.

The same goes for this girl. Her cloting is still pretty normal looking, but here I already added a futuristic element in her shoes.

And here I haven’t made added any futuristic elements yet. This girl is pushing forward a washing machine here, which is a bit of an unusal pose to draw- and so I wanted to first focus on getting that right.

So clothing suggestions to make her outfit more futuristic are welcome!

Girls of the 6th floor

Now these girls will be waiting in line for a painting, on the 6th floor of the dorm. And here I am also still figuring out what I excactly want to do with their cloting. The drawings are in various stages of completion, and I go back and foreward between the girls when working on this.

And whith this post, another year of making Space Rescue comes to an end again. I really hope you enjoyed my attemps to draw pretty girls, futuristic backgrounds and weird expressions for keen :) And I hope you had fun playing Space Rescue!

I myself was super happy to see that even more people joined the project this year - and I totally appriciate the support. I also love the hundreds of kind comments you left on my posts this year, and the many messages you've been sending me. It's mostly just me making this project, but with you being around it never feels like I'm doing this alone :) And that's really awesome. So thank you!
