Recommend Me!

I’ve had a few recommendation questions coming through various channels. I thought hive mind here might also be helpful!!

So let’s do an open thread…looking for fan fic or a specific type of drama? Make a request and let’s help a Nooner out!

Here’s a rec: If you liked Hospital Playlist, Reply 1988 and Liberation Notes (well written, well acted, satisfying ending) please try Be Melodramatic/Melo is My Nature. It is so good!

I have enjoyed all the Helen Hoang novels. Also check out Jen Frederick's Seoulmates, which is super cute, or Suzanne Park's novels. Not a romance, but The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See is fantastic.

I think I'd love any fanfic recs. Kdrama fanfic isn't something I've explored yet but I'm curious!

Alice

I’d LOVE a good Crash Landing on You fanfic rec!

For a definitely non gentle rec......I just saw The Roundup...in my search for anything Son Suk Ku is in.......well, he still had some of those subtle expressions like in My Liberation Notes, but, holy smokes. He was a not-subtle violent thug. Very bloody. Some moments of comic relief from the detective chasing him, Ma Dong Seok(Train to Busan, some Marvel movies). I saw it with my manfriend who enjoyed the car chases and macho stuff. Not a shred of romantic anything. But I still like Son Suk Ku😉

Have you seen Just between lovers (also called Rain or shine) ? I think that would qualify, unless I remember wrong :)

I'm looking for gentle melodramas to get over my fear of non HEAs. I've watched a ton of HEA and realized I wasn't always satisfied, that they seemed too simple. So I guess I'm up for a just barely made it HEA too. Thanks fam! I have watched Now We Are Breaking Up and I'm in the middle of Why Her? (great first episode, wow!)

Yumi's Cells could be a good option for teenagers? It's kind of like inside out, and follows a woman called Yumi and the cartoon 'cells' that guide her decisions. It's really funny and insightful as well.

Hi - I have two teenager daughters that I would like to introduce to Kdrama. Have to admit they wonder why I like Kdramas. I was like many who started on CLOY and than way too many dramas to count later . . . A bit addicted. Would like to share my interest but looking for a good drama teens would like that we could watch together. They do like a bit of fantasy / romance in the books they like. Would love to hear what may have worked for others. 🙏
