Horror Movie Poll

Comments

Doctor Sleep but only if you've seen The Shining. Get Out and Nope are stellar choices, too.

Maggie

I had to choose Poltergeist(82) because nobody else has and I consider it a must see but, Carpenter's The Thing is my all time favorite horror film. Doctor Sleep is also a modern masterpiece, in my opinion, that somehow manages to be both a faithful book adaptation and a worthy sequel to Kubrick's film which King famously abhorred.

oh for sure! Consider them done!

And, as far as movies that I have not been part of, but are part of my "go to reference points": 1) ALIEN (You've done this one. One of my favourite films of all time. Current watch count is over 70 times.) 2) THE THING (This is the bar on Sci-Fi Horror, right beside ALIEN. Current watch count is over 50 times.) 3) BLACK CHRISTMAS (One of the most important horror films ever made - John Carpenter, along with countless, countless directors/filmmakers cite this film as extremely influential. The trope that forms the payoff for the suspense of this film is single-handedly the most imitated story arc in horror.) 4) SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (As mentioned above, not true "HORROR", but as far as "REALISM/PSHYCOLOGICAL HORROR" goes, this is the bar - one of my favourite films, regardless of genres, of the '90s, right up there with SE7EN.) 5) POLTERGEIST (Assuming this is the Tobe Hooper/Stephen Spielberg, it is my favourite post-modern horror film.)

Okay...selfish suggestions from me (full self-promotion disclosure), in order of priority. And, maybe you've seen them, so the suggestions might be easy to discard... 1) GINGER SNAPS 2) SPLICE 3) PET SEMATARY
