Mass Effect Brothel Game - Draft

Hello all!

I'm sure most of you have seen the Samus game I put out for Innie's birthday, a few weeks ago. And I'm sure quite a few of you thought "Oh, it's nice to see LordAardvark finally getting his head into Flash games again!"

However, that's not really quite accurate. My head never left Flash games. It's just my hands that have left them for a while.

As evidence of this fact, I present to you lovely ladies and gentlemen a game idea that I've sat on for at least a year, if not closer to 18 months, now.

The draft is currently still incredibly embryonic, and isn't quite finished - there's a few game mechanics I still need to figure out.

Note that I wrote all of this in a single 5-hour session. Most of the ideas I've been sitting on and mulling over for months, iterating on my mind to find what I find to be a personal optimal solution. Some of these ideas are much more recent, and it is their collective discovery that has facilitated me finally having enough of a solid design to not only commit them to paper, but open them to public purveyance.

Nothing in this draft is permanent, and especially nothing with numbers in it. I am open to critiques, criticisms, thoughts, concerns, and ideas - especially with the areas I haven't fleshed out yet, but really for any part.

This game is hugely ambitious, as suggested by the fact there's like 9 or so unique games bundled into this single game, all serving as components to a singular whole. I've done some rough mathematics, and estimate the sex animations for the Prostitute role alone to be over 80MB - nearly 3 times the size of Innie's birthday game.

All in all, I wouldn't be surprised if this game ended up exceeding 200MB in size.

I would like to look into building this game in HTML5, to leave Flash behind. Since I am in no way committing myself to a time schedule for this game, that means I have plenty of time to sit down and learn the nuances of HTML5 and how developing games in it differs from Flash.

You can expect some periodic posts about this game over the coming months, though. I've spent a good few hours between today and last night doing some foundational model work to support this game, and would like to put in a few hours every week toward it.

Slow and steady wins the race, after all.

Mass Effect Brothel Game - Draft

Comments

This idea has been recycled into a new, more generalized game. If everything goes well, then this upcoming Saturday (August 19, 2017) will see the idea first formally revealed on my weekly Picarto stream. :)

Lord Aardvark

hope this gets some love after everything you've got planned right now

ADLegend21

Love anything mass effect related. Shocking, I know. This looks like it's gonna be great.

N7_Normandy

So far, everything in the draft sounds intriguing. You keep making stuff like this and I may have to increase my pledge again.

EnigManic

I would, too! But then I suppose that's why I've spent over a year designing it, isn't it? :)

Lord Aardvark

4200 words, across 13 pages. All written in about 5 hours. Darn tooting it's a lot of information! A consequence of being both a robust game designer by nature, and a verbose writer by nature. Means I get my ideas down thorough, but also means a lot of reading for others to go through.

Lord Aardvark

I'd play this.

Alexander Osterman

That is a lot info/detail. I will have to ponder over it for any feedback/suggestion, if I have any.

Supreme Overlord Llama

I hope not. This game is both more robustly designed and more robust, which can work both for and against it. The more robust design means that there is less guess-work involved in it, as opposed to Slutbroker. The more robust game means that there is more WORK work involved in it, though, as opposed to Slutbroker. I am hoping that the differing stroke will be the fact that this game doesn't rely solely on sex animations, as Slutbroker did. It gives me a lot more wiggle room, so that I can work on other things and progress the game if I'm not feeling up to whacking out sex animations. Plus, I have the experience of both Innie's birthday game, AND what I learned from Slutbroker, behind me on this. Ultimately, though, I won't lie when I say I'd very much like being able to hire someone to help co-develop the assets with me. I think, more than anything, that'd really help assure the game gets done. Unfortunately, I can't afford that right now, though.

Lord Aardvark

So is this going to go the same way as Slutbroker?
