Added 2024-06-20 10:56:06 +0000 UTCI feel like this kind of movie just peaked in the 80s. The 90s really shied away from high fantasy as a whole, and then what did exist got meta and tongue-in-cheek. A nice palate cleanser from the heaviness and tears of the last few weeks π€£

But, yeah, the high fantasy shifted away from the gritty dark era of brutal fantasy into the lighter romantic fantasy with films like DRAGONHEART, FIRST KNIGHT, and EVER AFTER. But, the 80s did leave us with some excellent high fantasy films. And, if you haven't seen it, Tim Curry's performance (and makeup) in the early T Cruise fantasy of LEGEND is Epic !
