- AZIMUTH - ( Luther/Grayson full bore)

IT HERE! AT LONG LAST!

Apologies on the wait, I've been finishing a novel / 2 novels that's longer by almost 100k than DUNE, so that's been a whole... thing. We're submitting to the printer this weekend, and I am very ready to get back to my more usual fare.

So THIS. This... is the infamous Luther/Grayson full-penetration dubiously canon 'short' story. I say 'short' because it's basically a novella, coming in only slightly shorter than 'Between Wind and Water'. It also follows the events of that story, so read that one first if you haven't yet.

The art, as you can see up-top there, is still in-progress. Expect June/July for that. But here's a taste ; )

As you might imagine with these two particular characters, given as I am actually making an honest attempt to write these interactions as 'canonical feeling as possible', THEY. ARE. A. MESS.

This story starts off with some pretty unhealthy interactions between two of my most troubled, problematic lads. If fighting and partner aggression bother you, might not be for you. It comes shy of the line of partner violence, but these two fellows are rough with how they handle one another. Reader be warned!

Obviously, story gets spicy later on. Everything's consensual, all characters are very much adults, verging on cranky silverfurs, honestly ; ) This was a fun one to write, and I think most of you will very much enjoy it.

This story will probably come out with Dubiously Canon 2 if we ever drop that, but until then it is still in editing, so feel free to pipe up if you see something. And enjoy <3

Nothing here that's pivotal won't come up in the Windrose novels (the novelization of the main story) so don't worry, you'll still get all the details in the canonical timeline. That being said, it was fun to play around with new tidbits ; )

Hey! I come back after a little more over a year! Was a hard year but getting better at the moment. I came directly to read this, not 5 mins after joining Patreon again! lol! What can i say? So many unexpected things! First time that we get past the comic timeline in a short Story, giving us a glimpse of things that haven't yet ocurred in the main comic as today. I was of course surprised by those plot twits and the way you managed the leopard was perfect! Love getting all those Shivah references, i miss her so so much! How are you gonna manage this story being basically "dubiously canon" but at the same time.. so pivotal to the main story?

I have read it all now and it was amazing. It's great to see Luther's inner thoughts especially on finally feeling free. As much as I like these 2 stories I'm still torn on the Grayson/Luther intimate relationship. I really want Luther to find happiness. I also think he needs a true friend in his life that understands him and he can trust 100%. A best friend that he is not in love with in the romantic sense.

I feel at this point, this is more than "dubiously"...this is canon. While they're a hot mess, there isn't many else who could understand their absolute messiness besides the other. I 100% ship them and would love to see them sail the world with each other.

KiskaBeaust

Absolutely wonderful. I heavily ship these two now. I simply cannot get enough of Grayson.

This was so good Rukis! I enjoyed every bit of it.

Yes, the references are intentional teasers to events that will transpire in the Red Lantern novels, which I'll be working on starting this late summer. Since the comic is such a massive undertaking, I'd like to move the story along before some of my readers literally leave the earth XP So, I'll be writing out the whole of the main story's events in novel form first. The books will be releasing here over the next two years. The comic isn't abandoned, but it takes ages to get pages done. I figure at this point, folks deserve to know what happens a little bit faster ; )

*SPOILER WARNING* Some brief thoughts on the dinner scene and why it's so important: First, we see Luther as he has been his entire life: Afraid of what other people think of him and full of self-loathing. It's SO important to him to be seen as "normal" that the hint that his disguise has been pierced TERRIFIES him and puts his hackles up, ready for someone to attack him. He fumbles at trying to reassure the men, being honest about their chances that his former fleet will actually work with them, but is still taking everything personally. Then, Grayson demonstrates how he handles the men. "Suck my dick, Ian!" And things begin a shift in his thinking. There's a playfulness mixed in with their more obvious homophobia. He can do that... So he begins to (GASP) loosen up??? and accepts the invitation/challenge to fight Taarush. That results in actual approval with the men and he begins to understand who they are and that he COULD fit in with them... even if they DO know his secret! The end, where he and Grayson kiss, he sees that impression reenforced and finally lets go of his attempt to HIDE what he is and begins to live his life on his terms.

So I read about half of this story this morning. So far it is great but I have some questions. It is making reference to events of things I have not read. Things with Amon and other events I can only assume happen in the graphic novel. Last I saw of that story Luther's Wife and Cross were trying to get aid to him. Did I somehow miss more of this story or is it still in the works? Love the new Luther chapters...keep on writing amazing stuff!
