Upstairs

Actually this was another experiment. 

I got inspired by someone on Instagram and decided I'd paint her.
However, as that usually ends up being a nude, even though the inspiration is not even close to nude on her page, I thought I'd give her a mask and see if she would recognise herself like this, in case she would see it at all (because as you may know there are a lot of sleeper-followers around on instagram :)) She did see it and hit the like button (I monitored the post closely of course) , but I don't think she saw the resemblance.
Or she just didn't want the original (which I offered to give away in the picture description, to the model, if she would recognise herself), doesn't speak english, didn't like the idea of her being the inspiration for this type of art, or whatever reason one can imagine. So, that did not work out as planned.
If I do stuff like this it's because I like to paint someone, because I think they have serious potential in my area of expertise, even when they're too far away (or have other boundaries I don't know about that would stop them) to be my model in reality, if they wanted to, to begin with. That doesn't matter at all. I don't seek them out either. I follow those that make pictures I like and sometimes I just go with the inspiration. Most of the time I just ignore the urge because I don't have the time or because there are too many potentially good models that don't do anything useful with it. But sometimes I just do it anyway. 

I actually made a series like that, a couple of years ago, but without masks and even though it was appreciated by most, not by all. It might even have been the reason for my previous account on instagram to get deleted although I never got any reason from instagram. So, I'll not contact them directly anymore to ask for permission and I'll not do series like this anymore either. Nonetheless, I like what sometimes comes from my imagination roaming free.

I'll not post it without the mask, because otherwise I'd have to change her face to make her unrecognisable. My art should not embarrass. I aim for better things than that.
