Happy... not quite still Wednesday all! π
Short one this week, what with all the festivities, but I wanted to share a rough concept pic of a provisionally named couple: Lucas and Stella, who'll be the main characters in We Made It Big, a story I'm working on set in Samster's highly immersive Corporate Worlds universe, where greed is good and bigger is better.
And Stella is among the biggest and greediest you'll find: a bona fide "ultra blimp" as they're referred to in that universe.
What I worked on this week
Apart from the Gemma pic posted yesterday, I've been using what little time hasn't been spent drinking and eating working on my Kari & Yaz follow-up to last year's Christmas story. I've also done some tinkering on commission pic, provisionally titled Donna's dinner, and a little tinkering on my upcoming Amelia university comic for stuffed tier patrons.
What's been inspiring me
Charlotte Church on The Chase Christmas Special. Bubblier than a bottle of Laurent Perignon. Bouncing around and clasping her hands under her rather curvy tum. I don't know why, but she's someone I can imagine really going for it at Christmas dinner. Mounds of turkey and stuffing, the last extra pig in blanket, several huge helpings of Christmas pudding caked in brandy butter, falling asleep in front of the TV with puffing cheeks redder than the cranberry sauce and a hand on her grumbling tummy.
The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. A great book in its own right, this also provided one of those wonderful moments in reading where I get some totally random and unexpected inspiration for my WG writing. It came in the author's description of his brief time as an investment banker, which has helped me to understand Kari's career and mindset a little more. Turns out that when she moans about how hard she's works, she might be telling the truth! Apparently investment bankers often work insanely long hours and even have a saying: "If you don't come in on Saturday, don't bother coming back on Sunday". Like that!
Hope everyone's doing well! π
