Updates, Bonus Extra

Few quick updates!

First off, the manuscript for The City That Would Eat The World is officially off to my audiobook publisher, woo! Feels pretty good, and a huge load off my back. Still a little work I need to do on the book- write the afterword, get it out to reviewers, plan my release promotions, etc- but only getting it out to reviewers is at all pressing, time-wise, which is nice.

Second, while I'm still... not 100% back on my feet mentally, the above has helped a lot. As I shrink the list of tasks I need to do, the remainder feel that much less impossible.

And finally: Over the weekend, I bought a copy of the newest RPGMaker on a whim, and made a little game with it! Nothing fancy, just takes ten minutes or so to get roll credits, but I had a lot of fun making it. Attached the game for Windows format, if anyone wants to try it! (If anyone wants it for another format- Apple, IoS, or Android- just let me know!)

And if anyone enjoys it, I'm definitely planning on making more. Making games has been an artistic ambition of mine for most of my life- one of many, hah. (My books and short stories remain my priority, I promise!) RPGMaker seems a good first step to that, until I learn more coding and graduate to more powerful game engines. I won't be charging anything extra for the games for now- I am nowhere near the level of skill to justify that, so for now they'll just be freebies I'll intermittently toss onto Patreon for all my subscribers. (The feedback helps motivate me, hah.) And, as always, not gonna make any major changes to this Patreon without consulting with y'all.

(Will some of the future games be Aetheriad ones? Probably, but again, I want to wait until I hit a higher level of skill before that.)

Comments

I'll play the game as soon as I can. But if you want to discuss programming anytime, it is one of my passions. I've got a degree in comp science and math I'd that helps.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing it wrong!

It's a silly little gimmick, hah, but I want to try and master the tools before doing anything too ambitious.

Yep, that's the only escape from the loop!

As I've played a bit of it, it seems to resolve around spawning maybe 15 robots, then 1 throws itself into the beam generator, and when you try and use it again, it restarts to one, but this time with a slight issue. If you do it again, it'll loop unless you press the "..." button, in which case it ends. Correct?
